Director of Operations - 3PL Start Ups & Turnarounds

We are seeking a hands-on and people-oriented Director of Operations to join our team. In this role, you will manage and direct all aspects of warehousing and related functions, bringing your hands-on approach and people skills to drive operational success. You will strategize, advise, and direct the organization from a warehouse systems and technologies perspective, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods within the operation.

As the Director of Operations, you will lead the day-to-day activities of the Centralized Logistics department, utilizing your hands-on approach and people-oriented mindset to advance current logistics programs. Your focus will be on increasing service to our customers, decreasing costs, and improving simplicity. You will also play a crucial role as a strategic leader, designing and implementing improved processes and operational policies. In this role, we are looking for a dedicated and hands-on Director who is also people-oriented. Your strong leadership skills and energy will contribute to the success of our organization.

Responsibilities: Director of Operations

• Maintain a sound plan of policies to ensure adequate management development and provide for capable management succession.
• Prioritize and sequence the implementation of system improvements.
• Manage operational schedules and coordinate shipping activities to ensure production and quality accuracy meets specifications.
• Review shipment and operating reports, resolving operational and maintenance problems to minimize costs and prevent delays.
• Direct Managers on major rollouts to ensure timely execution.
• Develop and install procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization.
• Maintain an active relationship with other functional areas to ensure appropriate service levels are provided by the organization.
• Plan production operations and establish processes.
• Manage the Centralized Logistics Department, including freight quoting, problem-solving, freight auditing, claims processing, drop ship processing, shipped not invoiced monitoring, and international shipping coordination.
• Implement a proactive tracking system.
• Oversee freight routings for all shipping locations.
• Pull, process, and review daily reports as necessary.
• Implement policies, procedures, and strategic plans aligned with department and corporate goals.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for the Warehouse and Logistics department.
• Oversee full truck scheduling to reduce costs and improve service.
• Improve the collection, reporting, and distribution of shipping data.
• Coordinate U.S. Customs clearance for international shipments.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on all aspects of employee relations, including interviewing, hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, complaints, scheduling, training, and development.

REQUIREMENTS: Director of Operations

• BS/BA Degree in Technical Business (Experience may substitute for Education)
• 7+ years of related experience
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in warehousing/logistics
• 3PL Experience or Food Service Equipment Experience
