Great Opportunity: Director of Engineering (Extrusion)

Join the esteemed team of a leading manufacturer at their Lexington, Tennessee location as the Director of Engineering for Extruded Products Division. This pivotal role entails spearheading and guiding the Global Engineering functions, ensuring the delivery of top-notch products that exceed customer expectations.

Summary

Ensure customer materials approvals are obtained, and design and validation testing meets or exceeds all requirements in time to support budgeted revenue. Work directly with Product Engineers, Applications Engineers, and manufacturing plants to meet requirements while ensuring internal design guidelines are met. Support and present at customer Tech Reviews. Professionally manage all department personnel.

Responsibilities

• Properly manage Extruded Products Product & Applications Engineers and Chemists globally to meet all stakeholder requirements.
• Lead product development efforts to achieve five-year revenue targets, securing customer material approvals and ensuring successful validation testing.
• Guarantee all products meet stringent customer specifications and are manufacturable at optimal cost.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through the Value Driver process and collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to optimize production.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring and developing department personnel.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements to identify opportunities for revenue growth and product enhancement.
• Uphold compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, prioritizing employee well-being.
• Assist in defining and supporting the need for capital equipment.
• Travel to customer sites and locations as needed.
  
  

Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of ten years in Automotive Engineering roles, including a minimum of five years at a Manager/Director level. (Master's in Engineering or MBA strongly preferred).
• Rubber Chemistry background required.
• Rubber & Plastic hose experience strongly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering fundamentals, rubber chemistry, extrusion, hose design principles, product and production processes
• Knowledgeable with Automotive OEM procedures, quality assurance techniques, and tools such as statistical process control, 8-D problem-solving techniques, product testing
• Understanding of Lean principles and organizational procedures.
