Director of Engineering and Facilities

OVERVIEW:

Arizona Custom Blends (ACB) is a premier contract manufacturer of nutraceutical products, specializing in the capsule and powder categories. ACB was founded in 2017 and is based in Tempe, AZ. We work through a strong, quality focused collaborative environment from initial customer interaction through project completion and delivery. ACB is a growing and dynamic company.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director is responsible for ensuring all the following occur.  The items may and should be delegated to other staff members as appropriate, but ultimate responsibility belongs to the Director.

• Develops subordinate staff members, ensuring all are fully trained and are competent to perform each assigned duty
• Ensures equipment is in working condition to maximize uptime.  This is accomplished via development of effective set-up, cleaning and maintenance practices, regular preventative maintenance and education of staff to promptly repair equipment when needed.
• Continually reviews space utilization to ensure plant is used efficiently and to maximize facility usage
• Maintains facility in good working order to ensure all systems (climate, dust collection, etc.) are functioning to maximize production output
• Evaluates equipment based on production needs and recommends appropriate purchases and replacements to maximize output and meet client and production needs
• Develops best practices for operating, cleaning, and setting up equipment to maximize output and equipment set-up while keeping equipment safe
• Demonstrates strong leadership, management, and accountability
• Is fiscally responsible concerning the purchase of new equipment, repair versus replace options, and staff time utilization.
• Establishes a culture where facilities and equipment are maintained effectively and efficiently to eliminate waste, simplify processes, increase productivity, and reduce costs
• Maintains and develops maintenance and calibration plans and schedules for entire facility including all manufacturing equipment using SOP’s and following cGMP.  Performs evaluation and installation of all equipment selection and purchases
• Oversees design layout and construction of any required facility changes or additions
• Establishes plans to ensure adequate spare parts and expertise to provide quick response for any equipment and facility repairs to keep production running smoothly
• Works closely with the Production and Quality teams to meet cGMP requirements
• Educates departmental staff to be fully functional in all facility and equipment repair.  Additionally, teaches production staff how to make minor equipment adjustments and repairs
• Other duties as assigned.
