Director of Philanthropy
Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is an independent, nonprofit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois. We provide exceptional serious illness care, hospice care and grief support for adults and children.
The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a 20-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices.
We currently have a full time opening for a Director of Philanthropy. The Director of Philanthropy will set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of fundraisers' interests, and cultivate relationships within the community. The position will participate in fundraising events, build lasting relationships with donors and keep them informed on how their financial input is making Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care a better place. This position is also responsible for the strategic leadership of the volunteer program.

Responsibilities also include:
- Collaborate with CEO to create fundraising budgets and implement fundraising strategies
- Collaborate with Senior Director of Marketing regarding digital strategies for fundraising
- Lead the development and implementation of capital campaigns.
- Oversee contracted grant writing team
- Oversee the Volunteer manager role and monitor volunteer engagement, education, program development, required hours and appreciation events.
- Meet current donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them. Meet a current donor in person at least twice a month.
- Develop relationships with new and existing sponsors
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
