Reports to: Director of Claims
Travel required: 10-15% which includes two company offsites per year

Responsibilities
Engage with our TPA partners to ensure proper claims handling and service delivery. This
includes:
Maintaining a diary and performing oversight on claims with anticipated exposure meeting or exceeding the TPA’s delegated authority level
Collaborating with and directing the TPA claims team on individual case strategies, counsel and vendor selection, plans of action, and disposition
Granting reserve & settlement authority on claims above the TPA’s delegated authority level
Reviewing and approving all TPA coverage analyses and position letters, either independently or with the assistance of coverage counsel
Completing program level TPA claim audits
Attending mediations and trials
Maintaining overall responsibility for the claims portion of designated programs
Act as the Obsidian claim representative for assigned programs. This includes:
Completing claims due diligences on prospective general agent and TPA partners
Communicating with our general agents on individual claims
Engaging with our general agents to resolve any claims, policy, risk control, or client service issues
Completing all required reinsurance reporting and communication
Partner and communicate with all internal Obsidian disciplines on claim & program issues. This
includes:
Working with Finance on regular payment and loss funding tasks
Engaging with Legal on regulatory issues, wording of claim administration agreement/claims guidelines, and format/content of coverage position letters
Communicating with Underwriting on new program due diligences, high exposure losses, client/risk selection concerns, trends, and other topics of interest
Presenting high exposure losses to the executive team at claim roundtables
Meeting regularly with Actuarial to discuss losses and loss trends within each program and line of business
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience handling and managing multi-line commercial claims, including general liability, auto liability, professional liability, construction, property, and cyber - HIGH preference for commercial construction and contractors experience
Bachelor's degree preferred or relevant years of experience
Experience working with TPA’s and performing claims oversight & supervision Ability to handle high exposure claims
Experience with claims in multiple jurisdictions
Familiarity with policy forms, endorsements, and coverage interpretations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Superior organizational, analytical, time management, client-service and problem-solving skills
Ability to work equally well both autonomously and within a team environment
Comfort level with preparing and completing presentations, both internally as well as to current and prospective partners
