The Purpose of the Role


The Corporate Director, Sales & Events is responsible for the planning, development, execution and overall management of hotels sales programs consistent with, and supportive of, the overall business objectives of portfolio hotels. The Corporate Director of Sales will support the sales team within North America + Europe.


The Duties and Responsibilities


  • Lead Property Director of Sales to drive results from sales related segments and achieve overall hotel revenue goals.
  • Achieve non-revenue related goals such as KPIs, proactive sales efforts, cross-selling, etc.
  • Direct and coordinate company sales functions.
  • Comply with company SOPs as detailed in the Sales Handbook and directed by EVP, Commercial & Revenue Strategy.
  • Develop and coordinate property sales selling cycle and methodology.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results.
  • Develop sales budgets and oversee the development and management of internal operating budgets.
  • Directly manage major and critical developing client accounts.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company.
  • Supervise the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs.
  • Assess and monitor the on-going financial performance of each hotel through continuous review of revenue generation efforts and through the development, analysis and implementation of the annual budgets, sales and marketing plans and forecasts.
  • Develop, build support for, and implement strategic sales and tactical plans that align with the Company's overall strategies and lead to positive business results.
  • Develop in-depth market research and competitor intelligence to ensure understanding of local market trends and conditions.
  • Direct and assist in developing new and expanding market share in existing accounts by leveraging the attributes of each hotel and the surrounding area against each group's, company's or individual's specific needs and buying tendencies.
  • Collaborate with General Managers and Corporate Officers regarding strategic direction and sales revenue performance against determined budget expectations.
  • Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors.
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Develop, implement, track quarterly and annual sales incentive plan for property teams.
  • Weekly one on One, Coach and Mentor.
  • Reporting on Pace, Pipeline and Activities and gap to forecast.
  • Establish and implement short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Serve on Corp office planning and policymaking committees.
  • Attend hotel wide social, community and associate functions.
  • Create, review, and advise on property action plans.


The Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Needed


  • College degree preferred.
  • 5 years of Hotel Sales Experience.
  • 3 years property DOS Experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong managerial skills.
  • Compute accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.
  • Previous experience in hospitality industry, preferably a 4- or 5-star hotel.
  • Familiarity with statistical reports.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations
  • Ability to understand and communicate market trends, demand generators, supply/demand and economic factors affecting hotel performance.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.


Physical Requirements:

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 lb. without assistance.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Remain in stationary position for extended periods of time.
