About The Job
We’re looking for a Controller to join our growing Accounting and Finance team. This role will be critical in supporting our growth and will have a significant impact on our company, with the opportunity to work on multiple technical accounting projects, develop and grow the accounting team and work in a public company to gain experience with SEC filings and audit partners. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment, be driven to research by curiosity, and work cross-functionally. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer. CPA and SEC filing experience required. Open to Hybrid work for the right candidate.

About The Job

RESPONSIBILITES
- Responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations ensuring compliance with the business' accounting policies and procedures
- Overall responsibility for the accurate and timely closing of the monthly, quarterly, and annual books and records in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare required SEC filings
- Review monthly manufacturing cost accounting entries (manufacturing and purchase price variances) to ensure booking in accordance with company accounting policies
- Monitor inventory reports to ensure accuracy, resolve variances, perform variance analysis, financial and margin analysis
- Lead, develop, and motivate accounting staff to maintain a high level of employee commitment and competence for sustained and self-reliant performance and achievement of departmental goals
- Act as a strategic business partner to senior executive leadership team
- Develop and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s strategy
- Ensure a strong system of internal controls exists and is properly monitored; lead efforts for SOX compliance as the company transitions to accelerated filer status
- Primary point of contact for external auditors and third-party technical accounting consultants during the audit process
- Ad hoc analysis/projects
Qualifications
Minimum required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA required
- 10+ years of experience desired
- SEC reporting experience required (10Ks, 10Qs, proxies, 8Ks)
- ERP knowledge (SAP or similar system)
- Strong GAAP knowledge
- Manufacturing experience (cost accounting knowledge)
- Proven strong leadership skills
- SAP by Design
- Experience with a start-up company
- This role requires typing, sitting for extended hours, carrying weight, operating and lifting office equipment
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
