Join Our Team as a Casualty Claims Supervisor!

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Casualty Claims Supervisor to lead and oversee our dedicated Casualty Claims unit. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state-mandated claims handling guidelines, proper investigation, and fair resolution of claims. Your leadership will be instrumental in monitoring production, staff development, and maintaining the highest quality standards for files assigned to the unit.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with hybrid remote/in-office opportunities available at our office located approximately one mile south of Chicago Midway Airport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and provide strategic direction to the Casualty Claims unit, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct file and diary reviews to ensure appropriate documentation, adherence to fair claim settlement practices, and compliance with company quality standards.
  • Exercise appropriate authority levels on claim files based on thorough investigations and approve settlement checks within your authority.
  • Review reports, design, and support the implementation of procedures to enhance claim settlement and customer service levels, maintaining desired quality and quantity benchmarks.
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of procedures to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Identify training needs within the department and establish and participate in programs to ensure the professional development of personnel and processes.
  • Collaborate with staff on litigated cases, developing and managing cost-effective defense strategies.
  • Identify system issues, problems, and suggest enhancements for continuous improvement.
  • Manage the administrative functions of the unit, including reviewing and assigning new losses, screening and selecting candidates, setting performance objectives, conducting performance appraisals, and completing necessary reports.
  • Conduct daily reviews of files for payment approvals over adjuster authority and the transfer of files to appropriate areas (SIU, Litigation, Total Loss, Subrogation, etc.).
  • Facilitate unit meetings and address customer inquiries and Department of Insurance complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of auto liability claims and supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of managing litigated personal auto files.
  • Strong technical and administrative background in auto claims handling.
  • Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional leadership, training, and development skills.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claims adjuster.
