SUMMARY: Application analysts are responsible for resolving day-to-day production issues as well as providing setup, training and implementation support for long- and short-term projects for both digital and print publishing systems across all sites receiving support from McClatchy.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is between 90k and 120k annually. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography, and local wage and hours laws.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Analysts should be able to:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across multiple systems on deadline
  • Identify, document and escalate issues to appropriate internal and external groups
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and written) with users and support personnel across the world, who have varying levels of computer/technical skills and English-language skills
  • Prioritize support and project tasks and manage deadlines
  • Test integrations, bug fixes, patches, and development releases, and provide feedback on technical and non-technical requirements
  • Manage small projects
  • Work independently and in teams
  • Learn new technologies and workflows quickly and implement them
  • Train end-users and support staff on system and workflow changes
  • Create and maintain technical and user documentation
  • Follow company and technology standards and policies, including change management
  • Provide on-call support coverage, which will require some night and weekend shifts

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or SKILLS:

  • 3-4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience needed to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
  • Experience in technical support of editorial publishing systems
  • Familiarity with journalism practices and standards
  • Strong general technical skills and analytic abilities
  • Knowledge of digital and print publishing technologies, including StiboDX’s CUE Web and CUE Print systems
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Familiarity with XML, JSON, MySQL queries and APIs
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
