VP, Deputy General Counsel

Origence is looking to hire a talented VP, Deputy General Counsel!

The VP, Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for assisting with legal matters related to consumer lending.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with business stakeholders in our consumer lending services divisions to drive and assist with strategy, operational concerns, compliance, licensing, and related matters
  • Draft and update division agreements / contracts as necessary
  • Negotiate and draft purchasing / vendor agreements and other commercial transactions for the division
  • Drive transactional operations by providing legal/regulatory review of processes and practices to improve day-to-day functions
  • Draft and review policies specific to the division
  • Assist with general legal matters throughout the enterprise as needed
  • Adhere to and support the Origence values and missions statement

Primarily participating on the legal team relating to the following types of transactions and matters:

  • Provide legal guidance to compliance and business
  • Advise on a wide range of general contracts, including NDAs, vendor and service provider agreements, IT-related agreements, etc.
  • Assist on special projects, including contract review and updates of Origence’s database of partnership agreements
  • This position reports to the General Counsel.
  • Expertise and significant interest in consumer lending and business transactions
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently on internal teams and with clients and outside counsel
  • Ability to skillfully manage and prioritize multiple internal and external business and client demands, transactions and projects.
  • Exemplary analytical, creative, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with ability to inspire trust and confidence with senior management.
  • Interest in and willingness to work on a team and independently on a broad range of legal matters/topics, some of which may be new issues.

Education

Ideal candidate:

  • Graduate of an accredited law school (JD) with 3-10 years of legal practice or corporate in-house work.
  • Admission (and active license) to a state bar (California required).

Experience

  • Experience reviewing and negotiating complex and critical contracts.
  • Experience managing cost-effective outside legal resources.
  • Contract administration experience.
  • Regulatory understanding and experience in lending
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, while meeting demanding deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, management and people skills.

The starting salary range for this full-time position in Irvine, CA is $210000 - $220000 per year. This base pay will take into consideration internal equity, candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge and experience among other factors. Origence maintains a highly competitive compensation program. Under company guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual bonus to provide an incentive to achieve targeted goals. Bonuses are awarded at company’s discretion on an individual basis.
