We had an inspiring morning to launch Light it Orange 2024 (LIO) with our fundraisers, supporters, and DVFREE tick partners in attendance. Many have already signed up for LIO on our website at www.lightitorange.org.nz to kickstart their fundraising efforts. Our GM of Fundraising, Lisa Rudolphe, and Shine's Education and Training Manager, Margaret Fitzgibbon, shared their gratitude and excitement for kicking off Light it Orange 2024. A special thank you to Samaori for providing the excellent coffee. Let's make this year a success! #Fundraising #Support #LightItOrange2024 #Community

When I first started working at New Zealand Rugby I was genuinely surprised by the amount of work that had already been put in to creating a safer workplace, preventing violence and safeguarding our tamariki. This year we committed to stepping up our efforts, and I am so grateful to Rachel Kain Margaret Fitzgibbon and Mira Taitz for the support and guidance they've provided to us on this journey. 12 of our people are now trained to be the first link in a chain of support for colleagues who might be experiencing family violence, and this is just the beginning. #familyviolenceawareness #nzrugby
It was wonderful to have a chance to work with New Zealand Rugby this week for a DVFREE First Responder training for the Safe to Talk Network. DVFREE First Responder training equips First Responders to recognise and respond safely and with empathy to people in the workplace who may be experiencing domestic or family violence, and provide workplace support and referral #workplacewellbeing #dvawareness #workplacesupport #familyviolenceawareness #NZRugby

As part of a series of Family Violence education sessions for The Asian Network Incorporated (TANI) facilitated by Dr. Emma Barker-Clarke, Shine Senior Trainer Shine RESPOND, their dedicated community changemakers volunteered their time over a recent weekend to discuss the impact of family violence and steps they can take to support those seeking help pathways. More of the on-going great work from the Shine Training and Education Team! Shine RESPOND conduct regular training sessions, both online and in person. Our next session will be on 13 June at our Kingsland site. To register please go to https://lnkd.in/g6S3rgW3 Image: TANI members, with Dr. Emma Barker-Clarke at the far end of the table - speaking.

Shine supports and has signed the collective Open Letter to the Minister of Justice, the Honourable Paul Goldsmith requesting urgency on criminalising stalking. Why is this important? Making stalking a crime will help to protect our basic human right to live safely and free of fear in Aotearoa NZ. We need to do this now to prevent more severe distress and physical harm from stalking, including murders committed by stalkers. For more info & to add your support, see the ActionStation petition: https://lnkd.in/gPeQHiu8 Open letter & signatories in full here: https://lnkd.in/gKTeEueB #SafetyNotStalking
Good news for a Monday! We have huge, broad support for our open letter urging the govt to make stalking illegal in Aotearoa as it is overseas. This shows people from all walks of life want everyone in Aotearoa NZ to be free and safe from this terrifying and predatory behaviour pattern. PSN recently achieved DVFREE Tick accreditation as part of supporting staff wellbeing. Our CEO Dr Bonnie Robinson MNZM said, “This is an important way that we can help our staff and volunteers who experience domestic / family violence feel safe and supported at work.” Shine’s DVFREE Lead Mira Taitz is thrilled that we've achieved this milestone. “As a collective force, employers can play a massive role in addressing the high rates of domestic violence in New Zealand,” says Mira. “It’s particularly important for social service providers like PSN to have a best practice workplace response to domestic violence, as that not only supports our own employees, but also helps them to be best able to support our clients.” To achieve the DVFREE Tick, employers must meet the DVFREE Tick criteria. This includes training for ‘First Responders’ and managers. ‘First Responders’ are trained workplace peer support people who support staff who experience domestic/family violence, including helping them to create and implement a workplace safety and wellbeing plan if needed. The First Responder role at PSN is part of the role of our new Wellbeing Champions. To find out more about DVFREE, please visit https://www.dvfree.org.nz/

We are thrilled to announce that Shine RESPOND, in collaboration with RespectEd Aotearoa, will be providing comprehensive family violence and sexual violence response training to thousands within our court system over the next three years. This initiative, a vital part of Shine's commitment to combatting family violence, will equip court staff nationwide with essential knowledge and strategies to better support those affected by these issues. With a focus on practical skills and informed by the latest research, this training ensures that everyone in the courts, from frontline staff to legal professionals, can provide empathetic and effective responses to disclosures of family violence and sexual violence.
