There are 2 types of competencies learned ones and innate ones. Fundamentally if you are in testing and passionate about it you probably already possess the innate ones such as curiosity, obsession with things to work etc and that passion should grow as you explore the field. the learned ones, are around the various processes, models and approaches used, tools and languages etc. These require time to dig into and learn and you should prioritize in 2 areas. Firstly, naturally the ones specific to the mandate you are on. The tools used, the processes and approach selected etc and then find others that you feel could improve things overall to allow you to expand and shine.
