As a dentist, when sharing stories think about what will interest your audience and serve your purpose. For example, if you are talking to a potential patient share a story about how you helped someone with a similar dental issue. If you are connecting with colleagues share a story about a challenging case you worked on together. When thanking a mentor share a story about how their guidance helped you. And if you are seeking advice, share a story about a dental problem you are facing. Keep it simple share stories that fit the situation and will engage your audience.

I am a huge votary of storytelling pedagogy in networking. The strategies I have used to escalate my storytelling technique are: 1. Craving my stories as per the needs of the audience. 2. Making sure myself stories are coherent, and without jargon. 3. Making the stories a food for thought, making the listener participate in dailogue

Reference past conversations and share relevant personal anecdotes. Highlight your achievements to show your progress, like leading a successful project. Provide useful industry insights or experiences that might interest them, and ask for advice or feedback using stories to give context to your challenges. Connect through shared experiences by mentioning common interests, and show genuine interest by following up on their stories. Use stories to reinforce your message when seeking collaboration, and incorporate humor to make your follow-up enjoyable.

What matters is their journey, obstacles hurdled, lessons learned, transformations undergone. The climax? A resolution that's not just satisfying but impactful, leaving your audience ready to act. In the world of endless noise, your story needs to not just sing, it needs to resonate. Make it count.

How about reversing STAR to RATS? More and more people are interested in the results first and how you got there second during an interview. Flip the order of the story to show the achievement.

The posts that get the most responses are ones that are spontaneous. When I share something that is happening in a moment with a photo and not a lot of text and it is not a "copy and paste" and doesn't read as a "canned" statement, people seem to react more.
