How do you adopt creativity and innovation from other domains?

Engaging with a diverse ecosystem is vital for innovation. While blending ideas from various domains like art and science is beneficial, true creativity emerges when we welcome insights beyond just experts. Fresh perspectives, even from outside our field, can be enlightening. It's about merging the known with the novel, overcoming skepticism, and crafting a visionary plan. Innovation isn't always about the 'new'; it's how we integrate it.

I think, we have to be precautious about using imperative terms about how to adopt innovation frameworks. There are no evidence, statistical, about how adopt any framework, and we as ¨experts¨needs to understand that any organization, and every team needs to understand why they need to and how they need to consume expertise from other fields. Because every path is individual. Nonetheless, it is important to listen to other experiences in order to index the best tools in each individual process. Any collaboration could enhance our vision, but has to be indexed in the experimental process, if we want to test some other creativity input, we need to assign metrics and monitor it in order to understand the impact..

Variety is the spice of life and coal can also transform to diamond given the right treatment. The journey of an nascent Idea to a valuable outcome is a journey of many iterations. Design Thinking helps with adding innovation & creativity - when a diverse team from across domains & experience profiles come together - and freely(read with an open mind) work together on strengthening and making the idea more real - chiselling it through the dimensions of Desirability, Viability & Feasibility. Inspiration comes in many forms, but it always seems to have its roots in emotion. By placing yourself in situations that allow you to access deep and strong feelings, you're much more likely to be inspired and create wonderfully. How do you do this? Simply put, access deep emotions, feel them, and give way to wherever they take you. Go to places that excite you, cultivate awe for the things in your life, and even embrace sadness when it comes about! Be present to these emotions, and they are sure to inspire!

I've learned that groundbreaking innovations often spring from the most unexpected places. It's a thrilling journey that goes beyond simply cross-pollinating ideas or seeking inspiration. It's about navigating the terrain where the familiar intersects with the unexpected. One key insight that has shaped my approach is the power of challenging assumptions. Rather than hastily dismissing ideas, I've discovered the value in exploring them further. In my experience, innovation isn't solely about the pursuit of the 'new.' It's about skillfully blending the known with the novel. It's a delicate dance of taking calculated risks and crafting visionary plans that harness the strengths of tradition and the power of innovation.

"Why can't we change this?" - a question I have posed to nearly every aspect of our business since the beginning of the pandemic. Working in a historic organization (110+ years) with regional leadership in place for over 20 years comes with a depth of experience that can instill trust and consistency with clients. It can also allow ways of working to solidify to the seemingly unchangeable. Adopting a growth mindset first comes with the belief that things can change and will improve when they do. Once minds are open, a way to begin is to take inventory of your operations and personnel. Write down every instance "that's how we have always done it" comes up. Go after those topics first. Avoid the low-hanging fruit to enact meaningful change.

It means your goal is high. For now, demand is high but supply is less. It's different. There will be a transformation in everything Day 1 may not be similar to Day 10.
