Since the customer experience (CX) is the culmination of all the touch-points the customer has with an organization, CX practitioners and leaders need as much diverse experience as they can get. For instance, in my career I’ve run CX programs from the contact center, marketing, product, IT and digital departments. This diverse experience helps me have more productive conversations with all of the different teams that need to align to create great experiences for our customers. I always recommend that folks early in their CX career spend time in different functions to they become more valuable later in their careers. This helps them speak from a position of experience as they work to create alignment in their business.
