Similarly, when a team shares the exact same goal, collaboration flows naturally, even for an entirely new team. Certainly, disagreements or multiple suggestions may arise, but ultimately, as long as the team members have the best interest of the end goal in mind (putting aside selfish agendas and ego/ pride), the best decision will be made. These don't have to be 100%, however there has to be a clear overlap where the thinking/outcomes/desires are closely attuned. Far too often a collective approach is taken, where decisions are made by groups/committees or leadership roles become shared (e.g. joint/co CEOs). Clear decision making processes, proper empowerment to allow things to be decided is crucial. At the end of the day, there always needs to be a final decision maker, that is what the CEO or business lead is paid to do/be. However, they should not want/need to micro manage to oversee every decision (small or large) instead they set the framework/parameters the team work within/towards. There will be some decisions the business leader needs/has to make which are too important/large for the wider team. To decide, they will need to be provided with all the necessary/relevant information and that is where the trust, devolving of decision making is important, as the wider team has to be trusted to research, select and then present the options. However,this strategic plan also needs to include how it will then be executed by the business.
