Before diving into any brand strategy project, it's essential to assess your resource needs thoroughly. This means identifying the scope of the project, the goals you aim to achieve, and the resources required to reach those goals. Consider the human talent you'll need, such as designers, copywriters, and strategists, as well as the software tools and marketing channels that will best support your efforts. By having a clear understanding from the outset, you can avoid the pitfalls of under or over-allocating resources.

A good analogy can sometimes be easier to understand. How many eggs do you need to bake the cake? Simple as that. Its the same thing when rolling our Brand Strategy projects: - how many ingredients will be needed to deliver a 'cake' of that size - how complicated is the cake and how experience a chef will you need? - Are they all required in the same kitchen? What are the key success factors? key blockers? - what ingredients are needed? -Have you cooked this before? do you have a cookbook or guide? is it documented? does everyone know the process? Arguably, its quite logical, and using the example above, its similar to planning any other project.

Assessing Needs is a crucial stage that determines the success or failure of a project. At this stage, one should carefully plan out the project timeline, as it is said, "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Identifying the project objectives, goals, and timeline will help you accurately assess the needs and allocate resources accordingly.
Your budget is the financial backbone of your brand strategy project. Start by breaking down your total budget into categories such as labor, marketing, software, and unexpected costs. Allocate funds based on the assessment of your needs, ensuring that you prioritize spending on resources that will have the most significant impact on your project's success. Keep a buffer for unforeseen expenses but avoid unnecessary expenditures that don't contribute value to your brand strategy.

To efficiently handle resources in a brand strategy project, begin with a clear budget plan. Break down the project into key components like research, content creation, design, and marketing. Assign budget allocations to each, considering both fixed and variable costs. Prioritize resources based on the project's objectives, ensuring high-impact areas receive sufficient funding. Track expenses regularly and compare them to budget projections to identify any discrepancies. Implement cost-saving measures like bulk purchasing or repurposing content. Stay flexible to adjust resources as needed, but always maintain focus on achieving the brand's strategic goals.

Your budget isn't just numbers on a spreadsheet; it's the lifeline of your brand's future. Begin with a granular breakdown, categorizing your financial plan into labor, marketing, software, and a reserve for the unexpected. Allocate with precision, channeling funds where they'll ignite the most growth—be it in human creativity or digital efficiency. Remember, every dollar should be a soldier in your army, fighting towards the triumph of your brand. Equip yourself with a contingency to weather the storms of unpredictability, but steer clear of lavishness that doesn't serve your strategic conquest.

-
Once the needs are clear, develop a detailed budget. Allocate funds based on the priorities and expected ROI of different activities. It’s important to keep the budget flexible enough to accommodate unforeseen changes while ensuring that spending aligns with strategic goals.
Time is a non-renewable resource, so scheduling wisely is paramount in brand strategy projects. Develop a timeline that reflects the project's complexity and urgency, with milestones for key deliverables. This will help you manage your team's workload and prevent bottlenecks. Make sure to allocate enough time for creative processes, which often can't be rushed, and set realistic deadlines that motivate progress without causing burnout.
-
I can overcomplicate things in my head, but scheduling can be quite simple. Plot out the project's main milestones – write them out and put a date on them. Then figure out the tasks to reach each milestone – this can be as simple as a bulleted list. Now determine who is responsible for each tasks and where the potential hold-ups will be. Armed with that, you can do project schedule – I use Asana for this as it allows me to set tasks to dates. And when I tick enough off, a unicorn flies across the page, which is enough of an incentive to me to tick off more tasks 🤣

-
Consider time as the heartbeat of your brand strategy project. Crafting a timeline is like composing a symphony—each section must come in at the right moment for the music to resonate. Develop a timeline that mirrors the intricacies and tempo of your project, with clear milestones marking significant achievements. This orchestration aids in harmonizing your team's efforts and sidestepping potential logjams. Allocate ample time for the creative cadence—a rhythm that refuses to be rushed—and set deadlines that propel your team forward, fueling ambition without the risk of burnout. Consider the complexity and urgency of the project to ensure realistic deadlines that prevent bottlenecks. Allow sufficient time for creative processes while balancing productivity to avoid burnout among team members.
-
Pre-planning is always a helpful and wise way to approach things. By mapping out the beginning, middle and end, identifying the various areas that require tackling before launching into the project, will enable resources to also be considered. It’s easy to see a project as one big need, but often breaking it down into smaller, more tangible components can help, and often spreads the efforts and resources out a little.
