The key here, my experience and firm belief, is to spend enough time with the team where it happens. Have dialogues with them about what they do and learn to feel what they experience every day. Listen, ask questions work to understand. When you start understanding what is going on you will improve your communication and the teams will start understanding you. This means you are developing a good enough communication skill that will help you adjust yourself to the right level.

Adapt language is perhaps more important than using visuals. Don’t get me wrong, visuals are great and necessary but remember, not everybody understands the world like you. People are different and the way they process information is unique. That’s what brings the advantage of a cross functional (and multicultural) team. So, identify how your audience(s) absorb, process and deliver your information, adapt your way to transmit it and get feedback.
