While it is important to access all the knowable risks, it is important to accept the fact there are things that one can not know and are totally out of your control or ability to act on. Those facts require you inject additional time into the completion schedule; about 15% more time. One needs to also set appropriate expectations for the customer as they are going to count on your stated schedule for their own and others timelines. The saying “Under promise and Over deliver”definitely comes to mind!

This idea helps me to allow the absolute imperfection of humans (working on a threatened project) to be a competitive advantage. We invest our energy to serve growth in all its forms. So, I frame it this way: "Expectations are nothing more than premeditated resentment." Most people have to unpack that. "We believe in our team and we get results. If both fail, consider your trade-offs. Is it worth looking for alternatives or pay more to stay on track? or are there other viable options?
