The first step to changing your attitude is to understand what is making you unhappy or dissatisfied with your career. Is it the nature of your work, the environment, the people, the expectations, or something else? Be honest and specific with yourself, and write down the main factors that are affecting your mood. This will help you to clarify your needs and goals, and to find possible solutions or alternatives.
-
I don’t think I understood this in the early years of my career but it crystallised in the the last 10. You are you because of who you are and your job is a small percentage part of that. Your existence on this planet is made up of a lot of things….and you have a job. When you put this in perspective, you may realise that your job needs to contribute to you life balance. If it makes you unhappy or anxious (or worse) find another that doesn’t. You are way more than you job and it doesn’t define you - you define it…. Life is too short to be unhappy in what you do the make money - and you can change that story.

Each one of us goes through peaks and downs in our careers. Following steps can help on to have a better and positive outlook towards career 1. Make a honest assessment of your career journey, your achievements, failures 2. Reflect on times when you were successful and the factors - internal and external contributing towards it 3. Dissatisfaction stems from mismatch in expectations vs actual progress and also when we start comparing our career journey with others 4. Analyze work aspects in terms of nature of work, environment, relationship with peers, boss and growth prospects 6. Ask for their suggestions and feedbacks from peers and managers 7. Above exercise will help in coming up with alternatives/solutions

The circle of influence refers to what we can directly control or affect in our lives, and it is closely related to personal motivation. The larger our circle of influence, the more capable we feel of shaping our destiny and achieving goals. By focusing on areas we can control, such as our attitudes and efforts, we increase our motivation because we realize that our actions have a direct impact on our lives, driving us to pursue goals and overcome challenges.
-
In my own experience, I've found that addressing personal concerns head-on is pivotal. Resolving personal issues can significantly impact one's mindset and professional performance. Expressing oneself in work as escapism might provide temporary relief, but it doesn't address the root cause. Taking the time to reflect on personal challenges, seeking support when needed, and ensuring a holistic approach to well-being have been instrumental for me. It allows for a more stable foundation, fostering a positive mindset that positively influences my professional endeavours. Recognizing the interconnectedness of personal and professional spheres has been a transformative aspect of my journey toward maintaining a positive attitude in my career.
-
Identify the root cause of the reason why you’re unhappy/dissatisfied in your career while being specific into details and honest if dissatisfaction is related to work nature, environment, people, expectations..etc. Write down key factors affecting your mood in order to clarify needs and goals and ti find possible solutions. If possible, to seek support from colleagues or a mentor.
-
In my opinion, the attitude of one person is highly influenced by the sort of people we are surrounded with. Being in the company of people with a positive and growth mindset often persuade us unknowingly into positive outlook towards life as well as to a wholesome career. However under the bad and toxic influences we tend to question our own credibilities and most likely to carry a frustrating attitude towards everything we are dealing with. So good riddance to such people and seek all the necessary support and do steal every single avenue to learn and improve.
-
In every narrative, there exist dual perspectives—two sides to every story. Within every challenge lies the seed of opportunity, waiting to be nurtured and cultivated. In the face of adversity, it becomes paramount to ignite the flames of inspiration and pave the path forward with unwavering leadership. When confronted with the crossroads of choice, echoing the wisdom of Carl Sandburg, it's not merely about venturing down the less trodden path, but also about beholding the boundless array of possibilities that lie before us.
-
There is a term, “Never let anyone/ anything steal your joy.” Because Your joy is all you have! Identify the issue at hand with your attitude. Who/ what puts you in the funk; look it in the eye & make the needed changes. It starts with ourselves, we have to be our own police officer and arrest the things in our life that bring us down. This way you can keep your blood type B positive 😉
-
Most of the times things happen in silence and the first step is to start speaking, having a conversation with your colleague to understand the root cause. Creating assumptions lead to negativity. And sometimes having a conversation can actually help overcome the negative thoughts.
-
One thing I've found helpful is self-reflection and awareness. By writing and speaking about your expectations, you can clarify your goals and hold yourself accountable. Questioning your attitude and the stories you tell yourself can help you identify unhelpful thought patterns and shift your perspective. What has helped me the most is focusing on what you can control and influence. In doing so, you can channel your energy more effectively and avoid getting caught up in non-issues. Being proactive and having a growth-oriented mindset can lead to greater fulfillment and success in your career and life.
You don't have to deal with your career challenges alone. You can benefit from seeking feedback and support from others who can offer you different perspectives, insights, and advice. For example, you can talk to your manager about your concerns, your achievements, and your aspirations, and ask for constructive criticism, recognition, and guidance. You can also reach out to your colleagues, mentors, friends, or family, and share your feelings, struggles, and successes, and ask for their opinions, suggestions, and encouragement.
-
Launch a bi-weekly 'Feedback & Feelings' roundtable, where team members are encouraged to share their experiences and suggestions for improvement in a supportive setting, fostering a culture of openness and mutual support. Partner with a professional development coach to offer personalized sessions for team members, focusing on resilience and positivity in the workplace, ensuring they feel supported in navigating their career challenges. Create a 'Peer Support Network' within the team, facilitating mentorship and buddy systems that encourage sharing of challenges and strategies for maintaining a positive outlook, leveraging collective wisdom to uplift the entire team.
-
Once you have invested the time to understand yourself (journaling, paying attention to what makes you happy or what drains you), seek the support of your trusted connections to process and create a plan. These could be colleagues, a coach, or even a neighbor - people that you trust and who will serve as a mirror on your life.
-
Seeking mentorship and support from colleagues can provide valuable perspectives and encouragement. Launching roundtable where team members are encouraged to share their experiences and suggestions for improvement for the sake of having a culture of mutual support in order to maintain positive outlook.
-
According to me to maintain a positive attitude in your career, seek feedback from supervisors and peers, build a support network, set achievable goals, practice self-compassion, develop skills, prioritize work-life balance, and collaborate on solutions. These steps can help you navigate challenges and foster a positive mindset.
-
Taking a good care of your mental health and well being, your circle of influence and being in a safe work environment are key elements to maintain your positive attitude. Seeking for feedback and guidance from your trusted leaders. And most importantly, having supportive leaders.
-
Firstly, look in the mirror. Be open and honest with yourself, try and identify what’s going on with you. Why have you lost your mojo? If you can’t see it, ask someone who knows you well to give you their perspective or observations. Feedback is a gift, be prepared to receive it, it may not be easy to hear, but important to listen to.
-
It's important to welcome feedback from everyone, maintaining an open mindset to consider it constructively. Focus on areas where you can make a difference. Seeking feedback and guidance from others, even those with diverse perspectives like my 10-year-old daughter, can provide valuable insights and spark creativity. Don't rely solely on encouragement from your boss; actively seek feedback from them regularly rather than waiting for yearly evaluations.
-
-
This is very true, and I was very lucky in life to start out with a great support system professionally, to be where I am today. My tips would also be, sometimes not everyone has time to hand hold, so observe for the best time. Also if you're in the position to want to learn new things, be polite and humble in seeking the learnings, don't just demand others to teach you. Eventually, be the person who shares as well to others to come full circle.
One of the best ways to boost your positive attitude is to learn new skills and take on new challenges that can help you grow and advance in your career. By doing so, you can increase your confidence, competence, and creativity, and discover new opportunities and possibilities. You can look for online courses, workshops, webinars, podcasts, books, or articles that can teach you something new or improve your existing skills. You can also volunteer for projects, tasks, or roles that can stretch your abilities, expose you to new situations, and add value to your team and organization.
-
Taking up new challenges is one thing that will keep you going. When we stay in our comfort zone, everyday chores become monotonous and we aren’t developing our skills. You can boost your confidence when you: -Learn everyday -Get exposure to new tasks -Read books
-
I agree with learning new skills and stepping into the situations that you feel uncomfortable. It drives you for a change, leading to unlock career potentials and give more options. A lot of successful cases happened after they decide to pick up new competence.
-
-
Acquiring fresh skills boosts personal motivation. It entails stepping out of comfort zones, fostering growth and confidence. Embrace challenges eagerly, fostering a positive cycle. Thus, the acquisition of new skills becomes not only a catalyst for personal growth but also a source of enduring motivation to confront and conquer future challenges.
-
la capacitación e innovación, en cualquier trabajo que realices, es la base del éxito, los clientes siempre buscan y agradecen técnicas y procesos actuales más la experiencia lograda con los años de constancia en el medio que te desenvuelves, saludos.
-
If you are struggling get better. There is always something to learn. Focus on one thing at a time. Dedicate 30 minutes a day to your own growth. One topic. One new perspective.
-
Developing both professional and personal skills for yourself can allow you to work toward achieving something important to you and overcome challenges. Skills can challenge you develop new knowledge and skills, which can open up doors to new experiences and opportunities. Learning also help build confidence and competence in your work. When you set achievable goals and work towards them consistently, you can develop new set of skills. This can you develop your positive thinking abilities.
-
Yes, new challenges humble you and keep you learning and developing not only as a talent. You also grow and develop as a person, those skills and willingness to learn can go a long way.
-
Take on new challenges that take you out of your comfort zone and utilize your skills. Let change happen, it’s necessary to grow and expand your knowledge and understanding of your skills and abilities. Another door always opens if you believe in yourself and portray that to others. The possibilities are ENDLESS
-
Learn and Grow, look for opportunities to develop new skills or expand your knowledge. Continuous learning can increase your confidence and open up new possibilities in your career. Connect and collaborate with others in your field to create new opportunities and learn new ways to improve your career field for yourself and others.
Another way to improve your attitude is to celebrate your achievements and progress, no matter how big or small. By doing so, you can acknowledge your efforts, recognize your strengths, and appreciate your contributions. You can also use your achievements and progress as motivation to set new goals and pursue new milestones. You can celebrate by rewarding yourself with something you enjoy, such as a treat, a hobby, a break, or a compliment. You can also share your accomplishments with others who can celebrate with you and cheer you on.
-
In life, progress happens step by step, and it's important to recognize and celebrate each achievement, big or small. Remember, you're your own advocate. Be kind to yourself by acknowledging your efforts, recognizing your strengths, and appreciating what you bring. Use your progress as motivation to set new goals and pursue them. Treat yourself to something enjoyable as a reward—like my personal favorite, a Starbucks treat. Also, share your accomplishments with others who can celebrate with you and offer support. We all need mentors and friends who can encourage us along the path to success.
-
I advocate for the invaluable practice of self-reflection, particularly during challenging career moments. Taking stock of your strengths and past achievements serves as a powerful morale booster, fostering a deeper understanding of oneself and reigniting a positive outlook. This introspective exercise not only aligns personal goals with individual skill sets but also cultivates a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment, laying the groundwork for sustained success and professional growth.
-
Use an inside out approach by changing your perspective about your work and career. Think of it as a vehicle to fulfill your calling by serving one customer internal or external every single day.
-
In my experience, I like to look back and see how far I have come. In the beginning I didn’t think I would make it this far. But here I am killing it, when I get down I try to remember my team depends on me to show them the way and show them it can be done. I always try to stay positive.
-
I remember my high school principal told us one day during assembly, aim your goals as high as the stars, so that even when you fail to reach the stars, you'll still be somewhere amongst the cloud. I have always set a high standard and dream high for myself. That being said, I take time to understand myself and the gaps that I need to close between me and my goals. As I work, I also realize that more often than not, life is a marathon and not a sprint. So, often what I do is celebrate small wins, starting from every end of day before bed, having a chat with myself to appreciate and thank myself for doing a good job, and for the ones I think needs improvement, then I tell myself, it's ok, we can try again tomorrow.
-
I completely agree with the fact that we should always celebrate every little accomplishment so that we can move forward feeling motivated for the next steps or tasks we are taking over. Acknowledge not only areas of improvement, take note also on the success you have achieved and what contributes to that success
-
Develop a habit of winning. You can always find something that you are doing well. Focus on that. Winning tends to give you more winning. Flip the script. You get what you put into your life. It can be big wins it can be small wins. Win everyday. Maybe you got a connection reply. Maybe you got further than ever in your demo. On step at a time. Get into the habit of winning.
-
Reward Yourself for a doing a Good Job. We all respond positively to rewards. Even if there is not a formal reward system in your workplace, you can start the act. Developing rewards for yourself can help you improve your attitude while at work and become more productive. Reward yourself for your positive outlook (particularly when you've had a horrible day).
-
The word 'treat' isn't exactly correct in this instance. You don't celebrate personal accomplishments with a break or a treat, you celebrate it by seeing what you have worked on becoming. You're attitude now needs to match your ability. Replace 'ill do this to do that' with 'I'll do that by doing this'
-
Be thankful, Be grateful and appreciate your successes. Understand and appreciate your worth as you do your SWOT analysis. Believe in yourself and have confidence. Motivate yourself and have the end in the mind while being flexible as well.
A final tip to enhance your positive attitude is to practice gratitude and optimism. Gratitude is the act of being thankful for what you have, while optimism is the belief that things will work out well in the future. Both of these attitudes can help you to focus on the positive aspects of your career, rather than the negative ones, and to cope better with challenges and setbacks. You can practice gratitude by writing down three things you are grateful for every day, or by expressing your appreciation to others who have helped you or inspired you. You can practice optimism by reframing your thoughts, looking for opportunities, and envisioning your desired outcomes.
-
Each morning upon awakening, it is recommended to reflect on three elements for which you are grateful and if possible, to schedule a moment to express appreciation to an individual who has significantly contributed to your life, whether they be employees, colleagues, supervisors, friends, or family members.

I agree…mindset and perspective is key and so is looking inward! One thing I think often happens is we get caught up in what is happening at the moment without context about how all of the moments tie together. We also forget, at times, that the present is a gift and we should be doing what we can to make the days count instead of just counting the days. I also often remind myself that I get to show up everyday as I choose despite what may be happening around me at the moment. And finally, we grow through discomfort so when we feel that in our career we should give ourselves grace and space to learn and grow. Remember things don’t happen to us they happen for us! Say thank you and carry on. 😊
-
I think mindset is very important, especially when everything seems to be failing. It's too easy to blame others, and at times its easy to blame yourself too. But playing with all the what if scenarios will not change what has happened. Instead, I like to redirect my thoughts to what can i learn from this, and how can i find the solution and prevent this from happening again. We're only human. Our bosses and stakeholders are human too. Our subordinates and team members are human too. One bad day does not make a bad life. So most importantly, own up to what has happened, and move on.
-
There are always positives and learning opportunities in every situation. Pause the daily grind, be at work or in personal life. Go for a walk, listen to music, read, or engage in activities that can allow you to be in-tuned with yourself. Self-Reflection Questions: * What does this experience wants me to learn about myself? * Put myself in others shoes and check for unconscious biases/ gain new perspective. * Despite current situation, what am I grateful for? It is in the bad days, we become more aware, grow and be the better version of ourselves. You have the power to choose your attitude, the choice is yours.
-
Show your appreciation for others. On a regular basis, take the time out of your day to reflect on the things and people you are grateful for. Try doing nice things for others in your office without expecting anything in return. An optimistic mindset can improve your mood, elevate your confidence and increase your effectiveness in the workplace.
-
I went through a very toxic environment a few years ago that tested more of me than I could have ever imagined. Maintaining optimism and practicing gratitude every day helped me as I moved through the experience. It was something I had never practiced before and turned out to be the best way to manage the high stress of the situation. It taught me that gratitude and optimism is always there for you, and changes your outlook of any adversity to a positive experience even if it’s hard to see through the fog. You have the choice to control how change and adversity mold you in your career. Choose to let your best self soar.
-
All of these are great suggestions. I would focus on what I can control and find ways to incorporate my interests and passions into the work I am doing alongside doing new skills. Talking to other people is invaluable. Don't keep things to yourself and seek advice from mentors and trusted colleagues

Einstein emphasized that our perception of the universe directly influences our interpersonal interactions. If we see the world as a hostile place, we are likely to treat others with suspicion. On the other hand, adopting a more positive and friendly view of the universe tends to lead us to approach interpersonal relationships with a mindset of partnership and collaboration. The ability to reframe our perspective is a valuable skill that we all possess. This allows us to reinterpret challenging situations and find inspiration and motivation to move forward, confident that we can overcome any obstacles. Source: Book Getting to Yes with yourself
-
Look inward. There is a wonderful experience in sitting with yourself and figuring out what the cause is. You need time with you.
-
Gratitude gets you a long way. Be humble if you had help and make the effort to thank some one. It may feel silly just dropping it into a conversation, and if it does then use it as an exit. 'I really need to be finishing something, but thank-you *name*, I owe you' Optimism is a great quality, but it's only effective when managed. Make notes on success and failures and do small things to help your goal along. I previously had a member of my team who was behind on certifications in a probation period, I mentioned i was staying half hour late to do some work and they joined me.

If you're struggling to maintain a positive attitude in your career, start with the root cause: does your organization's mission align with your values? Are you immersed in an inclusive atmosphere? Are you surrounded by colleagues who inspire you? Taking the time to journal out where you're at in your career is a great way to start making sense of where you're at, and determining what comes next. While challenging situations help us to grow, there also comes a time when moving on is the right next step. When you don't have an option to move on in your career, aim to find outlets outside of work that challenge and inspire you. Often, when we are fulfilled in our lives beyond work, we bring a positive attitude to all that we do.
-
Struggling to maintain a positive attitude is a sign of declining motivation. According to Gallup, 59% of the global workforce are 'quiet quitting'! That's a lot of people struggling to maintain a positive attitude at huge cost to global industry. I suggest one of the most important considerations is self-awareness. Very few of us have a clear understanding of what motivates and demotivates us at work. We don't have the language to be able to discuss motivation properly and so it remains a difficult, amorphous subject we struggle with. But, when you do have that self-awareness you will understand why your motivators are not being fulfilled and therefore why you're struggling with positivity and energy at work. Corrective action can follow.
-
There’s something about sometimes taking a step back and reflecting over time, perhaps this is just a temporary dip. If it looks like it’s something more permanent take time to speak to a friend or confident, listen to yourself as you describe the situation, what do you spot? Afterwards what feedback can your friend share with you. This may also help to provide a different perspective and identify some potential next steps.
-
This is what I would add here; Embracing practical wisdom means being able to navigate through challenges and obstacles with ease. It means having the ability to think critically and creatively, finding innovative solutions to problems. It involves being adaptable and open-minded, willing to learn from both successes and failures. However, practical wisdom alone is not enough to achieve success. It must be accompanied by extraordinary levels of discipline and perseverance. Success rarely comes overnight; it requires consistent effort and dedication. It means setting clear goals and working tirelessly towards them, even when faced with setbacks and difficulties.
-
I ask myself ‘What would macho man Randy savage do?’ In almost all situations, this sets me back on the right path - unless of course the answer is to chill and step back
-
When the situation is difficult in the short-term, adjust your vision to the long-term. Short-term situations tend to be heavy on emotion. Making decisions or taking action based on that is not only a bad idea, but tends to feed negative attitudes. Viewing things in the long-term, on the other hand, make the challenges of the now seem much less terrible because the bigger picture reveals an exciting outcome. While it’s not good to live in a realm of make-believe, thinking realistically in the long-term provides a positive spin to your day and helps you construct those goals we mentioned earlier.
-
Accept and embrace. Diamonds become diamonds only under pressure. Let yourself be moulded to tap your unknown potential. Everything will start looking positive.
-
Taking care of yourself is paramount for maintaining a positive attitude in your career. It involves prioritizing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Start by ensuring you get enough restful sleep each night, as lack of sleep can negatively impact your mood and productivity. Regular exercise is also crucial; even a short daily walk can boost your mood and reduce stress levels. Make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation outside of work. Whether it's spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, or simply enjoying nature, carving out moments for yourself can recharge your batteries and prevent burnout.
-
Boost career positivity: 1️⃣ Identify Root Cause: Pinpoint dissatisfaction factors; write them down for clarity and solutions. 2️⃣ Seek Feedback: Collaborate with colleagues, mentors, and managers for diverse perspectives and support. 3️⃣ Learn and Grow: Embrace new skills and challenges for confidence and career advancement. 4️⃣ Celebrate Wins: Acknowledge achievements, no matter how small, and share successes with others. 5️⃣ Practice Gratitude: Daily reflections on what you're thankful for foster a positive mindset.

All this talk of a career BORES me soooooo much, and is the reason why soooooo many young adults leave education disillusioned. The education system NEEDS to change and so does the whole support system for 'those who didn't manage to find a career', because at the moment, the support system doesn't help people, it just helps those who work within it to earn more money pretending to help others. If young people better understand that jobs are a vehicle to the lifestyle they want to live, there would be more young people in work and less unhappy people in this world.
