What do you do if your mining equipment maintenance services are not meeting your standards?
If you are a mining engineer, you know how important it is to keep your equipment in good condition. Mining equipment is expensive, complex, and often operates in harsh environments. You need reliable maintenance services to ensure your equipment performs well, meets safety standards, and reduces downtime. But what do you do if your maintenance services are not meeting your standards? Here are some steps you can take to improve your situation.
The first step is to identify the problem with your maintenance services. Is it a lack of quality, timeliness, communication, or availability? Do you have clear expectations and agreements with your service provider? Do you have a way to measure and monitor their performance? You need to gather data and feedback to pinpoint the root cause of the problem and assess its impact on your operations.
-
-Identify the root cause: Analyze the issues and determine if they're due to inadequate training, poor communication, insufficient resources, or other factors. -Re-evaluate your maintenance strategy: Assess your current approach and consider switching to a more effective method, such as condition-based maintenance or predictive maintenance. -Set clear performance metrics: Establish measurable goals and KPIs -Enhance communication -Invest in training/development -Review,optimize maintenance schedules -Consider outsourcing partnering -Implement a continuous improvement culture -Conduct regular audits and assessments .Addressing issues promptly/implementing effective strategies, can enhance safety, productivity, and overall efficiency.

Oftentimes maintenance performance issues are pinned down on maintenance personnel which should not be the case. All parts involved must be scrutinized if a lasting solution is to be achieved. Poor performance of parts department, planning, training, maintenance management, recruitment etc can severely impact the overall performance of maintenance department.

Problem identification is the first step to do. And then plan a solution to this problem is second job. When the problem is identified, half of the way to the solution is done.

(1) Our first responsibility is to look at the plant problem and prepare for the coming days. (2) second thing find out the mager problem of the plant

Yes , I find in order for your maintenance team to perform without hindrance it starts in the planning department , the maintenance team needs direction and they need all the parts to do the job . Parts professionals need to have them organized so the maintenance team can easily access the parts they need to get it done . 99% of the lack of productivity I see is directly related to poor planning and parts organization . If the maintenance team has everything they need to do the job , they will get it done .

well first you have to dial in the framitz. If no other blizzard warnings are sounding, you'd be ok to adjust the PK warning meters to sound if the DV doctor blade height is any more than 2 mm from the mag roller.

The equipment maintenance planning depends on the planning area and the maintenance area to be able to do so, in a timely manner, to be able to plan the corrective measures for each piece of equipment to optimize the downtime of the equipment, (for example, performing maintenance on equipment hr and plan all the corrective actions that the field teams carried out in daily inspections.).
The next step is to communicate your concerns with your service provider. You should be respectful, professional, and constructive. Explain the problem, provide evidence, and ask for their response. You should also express your expectations and goals for the future. Try to understand their perspective and challenges, and be open to their suggestions. You may be able to resolve the issue through dialogue and negotiation.
-
Service providers may not always be on site which will reflect the standard understanding. We should communicate first and brief them what our standard which they need to comply with.good communication can lead to better understanding and relation between us and the service provider. If we just simply hire the new one we may also have the same issue. I believe human beings always need to communicate to build a better understanding.

Try to report all problems, so that service provider visits are efficient, and without wasted time. and be able to carry out the work safely and efficientlyTry to report all problems, so that service provider visits are efficient, and without wasted time. and be able to carry out the work safely and efficiently
-
You have to communicate with the service provider who can either advise whether to send the team of expertise who should advise either to discard it and be replaced by the new one.The other option is to send the same machine to the service provider for further assessment and they will provide you with information later.
-
Communication is very important in every workplace, we must be open minded with issues, report and wait for the response of the service provider and the way forward so. In doing that we are able to work safe and efficient.

If communication does not work, or if the problem is too severe, you may need to explore alternatives. You can look for other service providers that can offer better quality, price, or availability. You can also consider investing in your own maintenance capabilities, such as hiring staff, training, or equipment. You should weigh the pros and cons of each option, and compare them with your current situation.
-
Staff training is important because in this way the useful life of equipment is streamlined and optimized; courses and training must be taken. Suppliers must also comply with their standards and have people trained to carry out work that organizations demand of them. aumentar ciclo de lubricación o modificación de cañerías rígidas o flexibles, construir o colocar protecciones en parte giratorias y mecanismos, colocar y cambiar filtros en aceite y respiradores de reservorios y cajas reductores, se vuelve a indicar realizar inspecciones para evitar averías en tiempo de operación
The final step is to implement the changes that you have decided on. You should inform your service provider of your decision, and follow the terms of your contract. You should also prepare for the transition, such as transferring data, documents, or parts. You should monitor the results of the changes, and evaluate if they meet your standards. You should also seek feedback from your staff, customers, and stakeholders.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. -Albert Einstein. Organizational change is difficult to make.

Whenever a service is going to be outsourced, you must ask a company to keep its service standards up to date since you are passing on your information that belongs to your company. It is valuable.

I would look into equipment replacement or rebuilds due to the age and condition of said equipment. I would push to have multiple models of equipment to be the same. This simplifies the maintenance knowledge and streamlines the parts and stock on hand. I would look into valid changes to equipment such as moly grease instead of on bearing instead of HD oil. I would also look in how the employees treat the equipmnet.
Even if you change your maintenance services, you should maintain good relationships with your service provider. You never know when you may need their help, or when they may improve their services. You should also maintain good relationships with your new service provider, or with your own maintenance team. You should communicate regularly, provide feedback, and acknowledge their efforts. You should also review your maintenance strategy periodically, and adjust it as needed.

It is important to maintain control over the types and efficiency of the maintenance services that the contracted company performs; reports on the services must be requested. It is important to maintain control over the types and efficiency of the maintenance services that the contracted company performs; reports on the services must be requested.

Relationships between operators and mechanics is key to equipment longevity. Constrained timelines will compromise maintenance. Maintenance leaders must accurately convey maintence conditions and requirements on the horizon to ensure a common understanding is established for proper r support and backing from higher. Maintenance Leaders must also remain integrated with equipment manufacturers to capture trends of failures, safety issues, and recommended actions to apply to solve these issues. Find out if equipment manufacturers offer free training with purchases, and if company reprentatives offer safety training for groups at a low cost. They are likey to accommodate requests to keep your business for future equipment purchases.
The last step is to learn from your experience. You should reflect on what went wrong, what went well, and what you can do better. You should also share your lessons with others who may face similar problems. You should document your process, outcomes, and recommendations. You should also celebrate your achievements, and reward yourself and your team for overcoming the challenge.
-
In my experience, most failures that occur after maintenance are due to poor-quality third-party components or spares that don’t meet OEM standards. Often, these components fail prematurely, resulting in equipment failures that could have been avoided.
