A strong network can lead to recommendations, partnerships, and opportunities that might otherwise be inaccessible.

Building the right connections is crucial for speakers. As Jim Rohn said, "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." This holds true in public speaking. For example, Reethu, an aspiring motivational speaker, struggled to land engagements until she met Sharada, an experienced speaker who introduced her to key industry contacts. This network opened doors for Reethu, enhancing her career and enabling her to mentor others. Building strong relationships is vital for gaining opportunities, feedback, and new ideas. Your network greatly impacts your success, acting as a bridge to new opportunities and career growth.

Social media is an essential platform for motivational speakers to reach a broader audience and build a following. Use platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter to share snippets of your talks, motivational quotes, and personal stories. Engage with your followers by responding to comments and messages. This interaction can increase your visibility and make you more attractive to event organizers looking for speakers who can draw a crowd.
-
The influx of social media platforms has changed the way of communication and transforming it into more interactive than ever before. Social media can be used to create credibility, brand, topics, and message. Use video. I prefer live crosses because it emulates public speaking. After the live cross, make sure the video is shared with relevant groups. Write, write and write again. Establish your core message with people who need to hear it. Be careful with debating politics or religion. This can damage your core message

Times flew where the branding was limited to the product and commodities. Now in today's era, every person is treated as a brand. Therefore, it is utmost important to build a USP (Unique Selling Proposition) around your persona so that the crowd will be able to differentiate and honour you among the clutter of motivational speakers.
-
Take some time to really understand what makes you uniquely valuable as a speaker and then lean into that characteristic. If you have natural humour, make sure it is present in your presentation. If you have unique life experiences that are related to the topic, ensure that you tie them in with flair. Once you know what you personally are "known for" be sure that it remains represented in future events.
-
Create and share content that demonstrates your knowledge, insights, and perspectives. Offer practical tips, inspiring stories, and thought-provoking ideas that resonate with your target audience.

Its important to know that it is possible to beccome succesful in your area of expertise without people know you. Personal branding is not the only way. For most people it is, but also there are other ways.
Continuous improvement is crucial in motivational speaking. After each speaking engagement, seek feedback from your audience and peers. This can be done through surveys, direct conversations, or online feedback forms. Listen to the constructive criticism and use it to refine your presentations and approach. The willingness to learn and adapt based on feedback not only improves your skills but also demonstrates your commitment to excellence, which is a key factor in getting promoted.
-
Seeking feedback is valuable to understand how you approach tasks from different perspectives. Feedback isn't just positive; it can also include negative aspects. It's important to focus on feedback from a neutral audience, who only know you based on your presented work at that time. In my opinion, feedback from them will be honest and can help you identify areas where you excel and where you need improvement.
-
Rather than attempting to address all feedback at once, prioritize changes based on their potential impact and feasibility. Implement adjustments gradually, allowing time to assess their effectiveness and iterate as needed.
-
Its really useful to share your trainings, seminars and education with your target audience, thru video or audio form, so people can feel your energy.
-
Our clients know us best and we can always make a little questionary to get their feedback. Also we can give them some gift or discount to show we are grateful for the time they invested in it.
-
If you're aiming to get promoted in motivational speaking, focus on continuously honing your speaking skills, developing a unique message or philosophy, and building a strong online presence through social media and a personal website could help also. In addition, networking with other speakers and event organizers, and seeking out speaking opportunities at various events and conferences would help build confidence in front of audiences and among other professionals when you're in their gathering. Lastly, getting testimonials and feedback from audiences can help demonstrate your effectiveness as a motivational speaker which can also help to boost your promotion in this motivational speaking profession.
-
I think all these things are important but most of all, keep up with industry people you know, keep shaking trees because something unexpected will usually fall out and above all, stay relevant. If you are not relevant to whatever topic you are a subject matter expert on, no one will want you to speak anyway. Oh, and be sure to have fun along the journey, your audience can sense that in a positive way.
-
All the above are great and all are part of being great. To get promoted, basically know the industry and demonstrate the diversity within you and how different styles work for different audiences and in different situations. Difficult situation in a way that then motivates Call for change Generating energy Asking for deep reflection Sharing a personal story of transformation Every corner of the room Tone and space Explain that this is important leadership work and that when called in to step in when the other speaker is not around around, you will take on the role and no one will even guess that you don't know what you are taking about , but do it confidently. One of my first interviews for a workplace echoes this😁
-
