I believe Quality Management requires a different mindset like any other domain. Some of the key traits required for an individual to be successful in QUality Management are eye for detail, patience, perseverance, methodical thinking, along with problem solving, data analysis, understanding of data and the types of data. There are many other characteristics which help an individual do better such as negotiation skills, understanding big picture which can help convincing others, etc. Assessing self on these parameters will help what you have and what you may want to work on. This is a good start to get into Quality Management role. Trying to analyze people who are in similar roles will help the assessment.

En mi experiencia, me ha tocado la tarea de buscar profesionales de la consultoría en sistemas de gestión de la calidad para trabajar juntos en proyectos de implementación de SGC ISO 9001. Si te encuentras en una situación similar, te sugiero recurrir a la norma ISO 10019:2005 Directrices para la selección de consultores en sistemas de gestión de la calidad y uso de sus servicios. Esta norma fue revisada y confirmada en el año 2021. Es posible que el organismo nacional de normalización de tu país la haya adoptado. Coméntame si conoces esta norma y si te ha sido útil.

La capacitación continúa es la mejor herramienta de abordaje ante los cambios que se suscitan en el entorno laboral. Estos cambios se han ido cada vez más, presentando de forma permanente. Una de las estrategias es primordialmente el interés del individuo en que área desarrollar sus capacidades dentro de los programas que puedan ofrecerse y que esta elección garantice realmente una aplicabilidad de estos conocimientos y herramientas en los roles que pueden presentarse. Partiendo de esto lograremos identificar de igual forma las necesidades dentro de las diferentes áreas bajo las cuales las actividades laborales se ejecutan, una vez hayan sido planificadas por los procesos operativos y de apoyo.

Una forma en la que puedes destacar tus habilidades, es contribuyendo a otros con la poca o mucha experiencia que pudieras aportarles. Por ejemplo, gracias a una certificación y registro que mantengo con el IRCA (organismo internacional que certifica a auditores de sistemas de gestión), obtengo beneficios como acceso a revistas, blogs y webinars. Este aprendiza lo retribuyo en mis propios webinars y sesiones de capacitación, fortaleciendo así mis propias habilidades de comunicación y gestión de proyectos para la implementación, mantenimiento y mejora de sistemas de gestión de la calidad. La actitud es vital, en ocasiones el candidato tiene la formación o la experiencia necesaria pero no la actitud y en ciertas ocasiones esto marca la diferencia para un contratación exitosa. Entonces te sugiero sacar partido de una actitud positiva, se proactivo. Y toma en cuenta que lo que has logrado hasta ahora es el resultado de tu esfuerzo, de tu formación y educación, esos son los elementos de base para tener la confianza que necesitas como candidato. Busca las palabras que describan esas actitudes diferenciadoras y trasládalas al CV y principalmente en la entrevista.

Uno de los aspectos sobre los que no se ha hablado mucho por aquí, es sobre la mentoría. En estos últimos años me he convencido que una de las mejores formas de aprender, pero sobre todo de aplicar lo aprendido, es contar con la dirección y apoyo de un mentor. Aquella persona que ya llegó al punto donde quieres llegar en tu carrera profesional (también aplica para tu vida personal), y puede ser para uno o más aspectos de ello. Por ejemplo, si deseas mejorar tus habilidades de oratoria para comunicarte con tus colaboradores, podrías tomar un curso. Pero si quieres más rápido, contrata el soporte de un mentor. Lo he puesto en práctica, pero a su vez me he certificado como mentora y soy feliz trabajando también en este rol.

in my opinion, flexibility is key. Be open to roles that may require some on-the-job training or start in a more junior position to gain specific experience.

Be true to yourself. whether you really need to do this work ? if in the morning you don't feel kicked and get this work don't do it. Quality Management is not confined only with Quality Department but it is a way of life, and If I really need to do the QMS role I better be ready for it, come what may.
