If I have any such design requirement and if I have to target the audience according to the age limit then I will start talking to the people around me on the certain topic. Or try to know their personal opinion. And i do some experiments with the help of internet on certain topic. Then after collecting a satisfactory data I start the design process.

When I was learning UX research, one thing that was emphasized on greatly is bias. We all have one bias or the other either consciously or unconsciously and the best way to solve them is to "Recognize and understand it first" , then you can come up with ways of solving it.

Read the corporate social responsibility section of the company that, you believe, has discriminated against you and have a good laugh. And then, don’t waste time, because age discrimination does exist, and rely solely on your personal network of contacts.

One thing I found helpful is to create a relationship with the colleagues and let them take the lead and whenever they get stuck help them get out of trouble from your experience and knowledge. The only danger they feel is because they don't want you to take lead because of experience so if you give them that and they experience your expert leadership they will surely understand you.
