Or try to know their personal opinion. And i do some experiments with the help of internet on certain topic. Then after collecting a satisfactory data I start the design process.

One thing I found helpful is to create a relationship with the colleagues and let them take the lead and whenever they get stuck help them get out of trouble from your experience and knowledge. The only danger they feel is because they don't want you to take lead because of experience so if you give them that and they experience your expert leadership they will surely understand you.
