First point is you are going to take a job after a lay- off is not an ab-normal thing . Many people do this and it is quite normal after covid phase . The smart person will not down-value himself too much just to get the job because he should be ok with his self confidence also. So the best way is to know your market value based on your profile and negotiate your salary accordingly , based on your experience and the companies which you have worked for in your earlier years. Once you get the job and you are on board then you can do your best to climb the ladder of success gradually and be on the track of corporate journey back again. Cannot be too much stubborn on salary part if the company is good and you know u can grow in the company.

I had gone through such phase and with my experience never lower down your salary too much just because u r joining a company after a break and u are desperate to work on any salary the companies offer . Apart from salary the few area which has to be taken into consideration specially which i normally do is : -Medical group insurance. -PF fund. -Bonus. Sometimes the salary can be negotiated along with the benefits available so that at the end of the day it is a win win situation for the employee and the employer both. Ultimately all these three benefits are important to be negotiated in a better way which can cover the difference of the salary u r getting . Because what i normally see is once you join the company after negotiating the better salary and the few general benefits are good for long run stability & growth .

The better negotiation skills of based on data , figures and numbers and also based on your experience and the skill you posses. The better negotiation is also based on the maturity you have on the subject, situation and the area of work you are involved into so that your points are heard, noticed and u win.
