I've started my Product Marketing Manager career at Microsoft and this is what worked for me: 1. Don't be a know it all, be a learning it all. It's very important to listen and absorve info. You will understand that university was 10% from what you will do. 2. Learn Excel on your days off. As a PMM you will work with Excel 100%. When I started I didn't know much and had to step up my game. 3. Take time to seat with everybody around you. Schedule some time to learn what they do, you will learn that the person next to you most likely can influence your projects. 4. Find a mentor who a care about your development. Your manager is important but try to find another mentor from other department that can guide you and connect you with others
