To answer this question, the best rule of thumb is to be in tune with what students are using and learning. Student engagement will flourish if students are approaching content and curriculum from their worlds. It's always been that way. Being an innovative/creative teacher is working within the limitations to build bridges from students to content. Avoid putting down or dismissing the value of AI, Smartphones, apps, gaming, and the like. Embrace the digital world while maintaining a learning pace that's reasonable for you. Be positive about looking at your teaching approach in a new way.
