My favorite takeaway from my internship was undoubtedly the industry insight I gained -- this was nuclear engineering at the time. There was a lot of bureaucracy, fast timelines on some sub-projects and slow timelines on others as we waited for approval. In the end I got a really great impression of how the industry as a whole operated as I got to talk with contractors and designers after a mere three months. It's a fantastic way to quickly gauge whether a given industry is a right fit and not waste several years.
