Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a fantastic starting point for diving into writing education. These courses are typically free or low-cost and offer a wide range of subjects, from creative writing to technical communication. With MOOCs, you have the flexibility to learn at your own pace and often receive feedback from both peers and instructors. To get the most out of these courses, actively participate in discussions and complete all the assignments to apply what you've learned.

Enroll in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) offered by platforms like Coursera, Udemy, or edX to access a wide range of writing courses taught by experts. Explore topics such as creative writing, storytelling, journalism, copywriting, and more at your own pace.
Online forums are treasure troves of information where writers of all levels gather to share advice, critique work, and discuss the nuances of the writing process. By joining these communities, you can ask questions, gain insights from experienced writers, and even find mentorship opportunities. Remember to contribute as much as you take by offering your own insights and support to fellow members.
-
Forums are a gold mine. You can learn so much. You discover new thing about your craft. And perhaps more importantly, you discover thing about your audience. When you find a niche forum, you'll read things you never even thought existed. People share secrets that they wouldn't reveal otherwise. That's because niche-based forums offer a great place to connect with like minded people. So people open up. How does that help your writing? Well, you're always writing for someone. When you know what that person is experiencing, you can tailor your content to fit their needs. Your writing will be more relevant and more helpful that way. But you have to make a conscious effort. Become part of the community. Learn while contributing.
Podcasts have become an invaluable resource for continuous learning in writing. They provide a convenient way to absorb information while multitasking. Look for podcasts that feature interviews with authors, writing tips, and industry news. Listening to these can inspire new ideas, teach you about different writing styles, and keep you updated on the latest trends in writing.
-
I'm not a fan of writing podcasts. There are quite a few good ones. But what I find is, when I keep listening I end up procrastinating. The best thing to do is to listen to a couple of episodes. Apply what you've learned. Then, come back for more. Otherwise, you might end up full of ideas but with nothing to show for your time.
-
Podcasts are low-cost or free alternatives to books, coaching and workshops. In an era before podcasts, listening to successful people would have been difficult or impossible. You would have to wait for them to be invited to a radio or television show. If you were lucky, there would be a newspaper article where a successful person would spill the beans of their success. Now we have access to conversations between two highly successful people almost every day. Sometimes it can get overwhelming with the information at hand. But if you know where you are headed, you can pick and choose the info you consume. Listen to writing podcasts of and by: 1. Nicolas Cole 2. David Perell 3. Anne Lamott 4. Elizabeth Gilbert 5. Online writing workshops offer a more structured approach to learning. These are often led by experienced writers or educators who provide personalized feedback on your work. Workshops can be particularly beneficial for those who thrive on direct interaction and critique. They also often involve group activities, which can help you network with other writers and build a supportive community.

The very important for writing is to start Reading. For me reflecting on your reading is modern writing especially in Tech. The more you read the more gain knowledge about the subject and the more you know the more you're able to write about that topic by sharing data, facts and stats which gives strong attention to your writing. So for someone trying to write for technical writing NOT fiction (with great british/shakespear kind work) then one should read daily and share your insights, assumptions, prediction on social media. Writing a post in social media is also writing which one can practice on daily basis. Short posts specific on topic and then can switch to long form of contents too.
-
You have to be very selective when it comes to writing workshops. I prefer the ones that give feedback without trying to spare my feelings. Writing is tough enough as it is, I don't need compliments where my work has to improve. In this regard, I have a very limited scope of resources I use. As with anything else, what matters most is putting what you learn into practice. With sentence you write, try to become a bit better. Once you're done with a workshop, keep revising the material. It's very possible that you missed something. You want to build your skill set, instead of focusing on tiny tricks and tactics. Still, workshops are useful as long as you apply what learn.
-
Building relations and online friends is essential ,if it is orientated to wiring for a purpose. One must be positive and collaborate with others through workshop activities..
-
Writing workshops can indeed be helpful, as it can be a great source of peer-to-peer reviews via like-minded people. However, as with every critique, it's important for the input to be constructive, not biased and most importantly coming from someone with enough expertise to validate given feedback. Determining this from the receiving end can at times be challenging.
If you're a visual learner, video tutorials can be an effective way to improve your writing skills. These videos often break down complex writing concepts into manageable lessons. You can watch them repeatedly until you fully grasp the material. Additionally, many video tutorials include practical exercises that allow you to apply what you've learned immediately.
-
Watch video tutorials and instructional videos on platforms like YouTube or Skillshare to learn writing techniques, tips, and strategies from experts in the field. Explore channels like TED-Ed, Reedsy, or Writing with Jenna Moreci for informative and engaging content on writing-related topics.
-
Aways visualizing and learning through picture and videos is the simplest way to gain knowledge. The modern way of learning is through visual aids which help a lot.
Ultimately, the key to improving your writing through online platforms is consistent practice. Apply the techniques and strategies you learn from courses, forums, podcasts, workshops, and videos to your daily writing routine. Challenge yourself with new genres or styles, and don't be afraid to seek out feedback. With dedication and regular practice, you'll see a marked improvement in your writing abilities.

You can write your blog. Choose a topic that will hold your interest for a long time to come and write regularly. Set aside some time each day to write. Could be journaling, storytelling or blogging. Just be sure to do some practice every day.
-
I think the most important element of using online platform is research. One of the keys to good writing is understanding your audience. After all, what you write is a means of communicating and stimulating ideas. So it makes sense to have a grasp of how your reader perceives things. Every now then dedicated time to go through people's comments. Don't respond to anything, even when you feel tempted. What you do is you make notes. Write down any insight you discover. Once you start seeing patterns, make note of those too. These patterns will reveal what kind of content your audience finds interesting.
-
Online courses are great. In addition, it might help to regularly take time for conscious reading. Read publications that are popular among your customers and/or publishes writing styles you want to incorporate more. The important part, reflect on why a certain piece of content holds your attention, sparks interest or is especially convincing. If you train yourself to recognize the techniques, you will be able to leverage them for yourself more and more easily.
-
Be selective in choosing online platforms and resources that align with your specific learning goals, interests, and preferences. Take advantage of free resources, trials, or samples offered by online platforms before committing to paid courses or memberships. Stay organized and motivated by setting clear learning objectives and tracking your progress over time. And remember to seek feedback from instructors, peers, or mentors to maximize the value of your online learning experience and accelerate your growth as a writer.

Maybe a hot take, but AI can be used to ones advantage. Whether it's rephrasing, double-checking spelling/grammar, or even ensuring character limitations. Obviously one has to adhere to some best practice guidelines when using AI, but depending on for what you want to write it can be beneficial.
