What do you do if you're a late career professional seeking guidance on pursuing your passions in retirement?

One of the basics is getting more sight on your purpose. A lot of leaders are so professionally focused that they lack a clear view on their purpose. You can use Simon Sinek golden rule: Why, How, What. I myself prefere Ikigai this is an exploration journey to find your reason to get (inspired) out of your bed every day 🙂 You start with four main questions: what do I love, What am I valued for, What am I good at and What does the world really need. It leads to an expression, one sentence, that expresses your purpose and functions as your internal (moral) compass. For example, my own Ikigai: I create with love, excellence and connection regardless the circumstances.

A common fantasy is a lucrative board seat at a big company, hotly sought after these days. A very available opportunity are unpaid board and staff volunteer spots at local and state non-profits, school boards, churches, city councils, state agency/sites advisory boards, political parties, etc. that can be very interesting or very frustrating time sinks depending on who is on those boards already, not their missions. Starting a business or buying one can work out quite well or be a fast way to wipe out your nest egg, lack of really investigating it, picking business opportunities without adequate clients you can access (consulting especially but a bar, restaurant, motel, shop etc. just as common.) Market niches you know can be great.
