I fully agree encourage for learning and he should be passionate about the plant and process, he should think of problems when he is in off duty also, thinking and involving can solve many problems of plant with out any major modification. Another thining he should know the basic things of plant and process, if not should take a help of books, by this he will get confidence about plant and it's process.

To solve any problem he should be dedicated and sincere to the job. I had seen some Engineers in plant will not take risk, they want to be in comfort zone. For that we are not ment, we are ment for how efficiently operate the plant with minimum consumption and maximum production. Should be target of Engineer.
