Something that my clients have found useful when the goal is to create and nurture relationships is start by creating your "Relationships Map". Create a list of the relationships you want to create or grow and for each of them mark the level of relationship (1 Deep 2 Acquaintance 3 Not known) and the importance of that relationship to your career (1 Low 2 Medium 3 High). And use those ratings to find the 3 most important persons in your network. Then instead of just trying to "grow your network", focus on those 3 persons with an organized systematic plan for contacts and reaching out. Those are the relationships that will have the highest impact and your focused work will make the relationship grow.
