This one is straightforward, but often overlooked. Read the competition. Take time to see their content in its natural environment, not simply through tools and the valuable data they provide. See what works, and what doesn’t. What can be improved on? Even better, how can it improve your content? Look at the top ten, twenty, and even 50 positions in the SERPs you want to rank for. What is being written? Who is moving up, and how does it compare to the content your site is putting out? What elements of the top pages in your space stand out? If the ranking pages feature unique videos, FAQs, and infographics, are you hitting these in addition to your word counts? The answers to these questions can help inform and improve your output too!

Based on my experience, some of the site that we manage do not link build actively, meaning there is no link building activities. But these site managed to get traffic and enquiries. While some site we manage, we do actively link build. But it is the quality of the link, meaning, the more relevant (ie trade publication) would do best than other mini blogger site who blog about that topic. Because at the end of the day, if you are looking from a potential customer pov researching about a company director (for example) and this site appear in lots of relevant high quality site, this says a lot of that company.
