What makes a good presentation? It depends on the goal (knowledge transfer, training, project pitch, results report, etc) - here are some tips that work for all the above: 1) Tailor the content for the audience. 2) Evoke the right emotion according to your goal. 3) Linear Sequence & Structured Slides. 4) Don't speak too fast/slow - pause when needed. 5) Don't add information that's not relevant to your audience. 6) Too busy or too much content- split into 2-3 slides. 7) Get peer review and feedb.ack ahead of the presentation (if possible). 8) Make it engaging (interact with your audience during the presentation). 9) Do a dry run with key stakeholders in the project. 10) Practice! I've built key presos for years and several companies using Google Docs and PPT. Here is what I recommend: Use the company template. It is expected. No template? Create your own or pick among the many available ones. Go for simple, always Consider the preso as talking points, not 100% content. If you need to include verbose slides for explanation, place them in the "backup slide" set at the end of the preso, or use the notes area No animation. They won't get printed and are old-school anyway. Use small visuals, icons, and symbols from a library that reflect your style. Simple is always better. Keep consistency, avoid too many bold words (everything is bold > nothing is bold) Use a large font, 20-30 for readability A white background is best

Here are 3 tips that have made my presentations stand out. They are just as important as picking the right image and medium. (a) Limit the words on your slides. Does your PowerPoint look like a script? If the audience can read everything you're about to say, then your presence becomes unnecessary. (b) Use analogies. This is particularly useful when explaining concepts that may be challenging for your audience to grasp. Analogies can also breathe new life into topics that your audience may have encountered frequently and begun to view as somewhat trite. (c) Leverage different ways to present data, such as using number, word play, or whiteboard drawings. This will make your presentation more engaging.

To improve your presentation skills, try the Pecha Kucha method; It's a format that uses 20 slides (try only showing images) and shows them for 20 seconds only. This will help you avoid rambling, reading slides and master your engaging storytelling techniques like a true TED talk speaker!
