Honestly, if you just take the time to address a conflict you'll be far ahead of the many managers that are afraid of conflict. You gain goodwill by just talking with the party(s) and listening without judgement. The most important thing to them is to just be heard. You may make mistakes on how you ultimately handle the conflict, but you'll learn from the mistakes, and you'll grow. And don't expect everyone to walk out of the room liking you afterwards. Conflicts occurs because of lack of understanding so in order to get to the root of the problem, active listening with empathy plays a crucial role. In my past experience I was dealing with basketball coach, she was a good coach but somehow kids were refraining to enroll for her sessions, during a one on one session she said the kids are not enrolling because she in not able to promote herself and not able to say that she herself is good coach due to her low self esteem and confidence this deep rooted conflict was discovered because of patient listening.

This real time scenario is not very old, where one experienced cricket coach was told to shift his session days, as the ops team informed him, he started yelling at the team and arguement begin. Once the matter is highlighted to me and in resolution discussion with the coach it was found that the coach was fighting with every one out of fear of losing out few kids. Under pressure of his repute if the new batches did not turn out good he was creating unrest, on understanding his fears he was counselled and explained the benefits of shift in timings and also the session for how to face the changes with grace, optimism and positive outlook was planned for the full team.

Numbers were stuck in one the academies, we tried creative problem solving technique by creating a tournament for new enrollments, by gamefying the calling numbers to conversions. The match between three members of each time increased the call efficiency and numbers imporved.
