Deep work must be done first by teachers to ensure their unconscious bias is considered before and after planning. Deep work should also be done by the teacher to understand and be aware of their own neurology, fixations, narratives and what deregulates them, strategies should be practiced in order to maintain regulation when with students. Consider the hardest to reach child and all will thrive. Teachers should build teaching strategies that are neurodivergent focused. Teachers should presume all behaviour is communication and all are neurodivergent, rather than binary thinking of good and bad behaviour.

Yes! This one is big. In these collaboration meetings it helps so much to throw ideas out there and either receive affirmation for those ideas, or to receive feedback on how to adjust them. This brings confidence when delivering a lesson to your students. You can more readily anticipate challenging moments and be confident in your ability to adjust in the moment.
Observing your fellow teachers in action offers invaluable insights into different teaching methodologies. Take turns visiting each other's classrooms to see these techniques firsthand. This peer observation is not about judgment but about learning from each other's strengths. I was asked recently if a new teacher could observe me. I was really flattered, and agreed. The observation took place yesterday, only for 15 minutes, and at a random time mid- lesson. I hope it was useful, and also hope that new teacher gives me some feedback. I will reach out to her early next week to find out her thoughts. If you do get the chance to observe it be observed, I would always take the opportunity, and please remember to share a take-away from the experience.

I recently discovered the reflect option on Teams assignments. I've started using this with my students as a guage of how they're feeling about their progress. It's early days, but I really like the idea of this and plan to use it more from September, embedding reflection from the start with my new students.

Teaching is a two way street. By this what I mean is that it's a process wherein we see our ideas evolving with the insights provided by others. For instance, a teacher teaching a student from well-off background and a student from impoverished background will have two different reactions to a certain idea or questions asked in the class. Now these two answers will have two different effects and therefore two seperate sets of answers despite the question being same. Here the teacher learns and so does the student.
Lastly, providing emotional and professional support to each other is vital. Teaching can be a challenging profession, and having a network of colleagues who understand and support you can make all the difference. Whether it's offering encouragement, sharing a burden, or just lending an ear, this support system strengthens the teaching community and ultimately leads to better outcomes for students.

Teaching as a profession us challenging. I have qualified NET-JRF and let go off the possibility of teaching in a formal environment. Teaching is a stressful profession. At this one instance, my sister had dealt with a student of 7th grade "fallen in love" with her. It's tough to manage students you're just exploring who they really are. Keeping engaged with their parents/guardians is of immense help.
