We do need rules, without some standard to follow who knows what stupidity people will come up with. Should we ONLY follow the rules? Can we create a rule for every possible situation? We need to teach how to recognize hazards. We need to teach how to mitigate hazards. If we only promote rule following people will naturally turn off their common sense. With common sense offen already in short supply we don't want people turning it off. Nobody wants a machine to eat their hand. We should help them learn to use these God given instincts to recognize hazards.

If you work at a place that doesn't do the things in this article you have a couple options. -Suck it up and maintain. Put in a days work and go home. Most people do this but they also go to a job everyday that they learn to hate. -Get involved, leadership in the company just might be looking for input. Tone is key here. Do this with a good attitude and it will go a long way. You might get recognized by leadership as a potential leader yourself .
