A Drunk Raccoon Tries to Hook Up With Colin Jost and Eat Poop in Unhinged ‘Weekend Update’

In a “Weekend Update” that featured jokes about Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, a sunburned vacationer played by cast member Ben Marshall and how Netflix will jack up its prices to $50 million in order to buy Warner Bros., Sarah Sherman stole the show playing the drunk raccoon that (actually!) got wasted in a Virigina liquor store this week, and passed out in the bathroom.

“Here to explain their actions is that drunk raccoon,” said Colin Jost.

Coming on to Jost, while writhing around the Update desk, the raccoon complained that it doesn’t have any privacy, as Jost said she has a “serious drinking problem.

SNL Video: Colin Jost's Pete Hegseth Yells At Reporters About War Crimes While Trump Dozes Off
Image
War crimes? Don't even bother asking Pete Hegseth about that — unless you want to get roasted by an alpha male.

Colin Jost reprised his role as the macho Secretary of War this week on "Saturday Night Live," swaggering out to meet reporters at a press conference before chugging an energy drink and ordering everyone to shut up. He announced that "we're now at war with Venezuela," and if you're looking for an official declaration of war? Hegseth has a middle finger for you — or at least a Dane Cook super finger.

Reporters try to get more information on the military's...

Sleepy Trump Dreams of Zohran Mamdani While Pete Hegseth Rants About Booze in Wacky ‘SNL’ Cold Open
Image
Donald Trump didn’t throw much support behind Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in the cold open of the Dec. 6 episode of “Saturday Night Live.”

Colin Jost reprised his role as Hegseth, berating the press as they were asking about the United States’ strikes on boats that were alleged to be operated by narco-terrorists. After calling one journalist fat and berating another for being single, he made a less-than-believable denial that the military operation went as planned.

“That kind of cruel, heartless act has no place in operation ‘Kill Everybody,'” Jost-as-Hegseth said. “Second, I wasn’t even in the room when it happened.

The same could be asked of many of the protagonists of our favorite homicidal TV shows, meaning the detectives and psychologists who spend their lives facing down humanity at its worst.

Serial killer stories often explore existential questions of morality, trauma, grief, and obsession, putting their characters through the wringer to extract meaning from grotesque violence. Anyone who's watched Netflix's original series "Emily in Paris" — which was created by Darren Star ("Younger," "Sex and the City") and stars Lily Collins as the titular Emily in the French capital — is familiar with Lucas Bravo, who plays the show's infamous "hot chef" Gabriel. As it turns out, the actor almost lost out on the pivotal part because the studio behind the series was hoping for a more established performer.

As Bravo exclusively told People in September 2024, he wasn't cast as Gabriel right away. To cope with the disappointment of losing such a huge opportunity, he ran away to Corsica.

Image
So many television shows revolve around love stories, and what better to demonstrate a romance's culmination than a big marriage proposal? These scenes really do feel like the payoff to longstanding character arcs as they take their romantic relationships to the next level. And even in cases where the relationship ultimately doesn't endure, the proposal is still a sweet moment on its own merit.

Simply put, popping the question makes for some of the most memorable moments in television history.

Kristen Stewart Called Out Hollywood. Minutes Later, Netflix Announced a Deal to Buy It.
Image
True story: Thursday night was IndieWire Honors. As Kristen Stewart was delivering her blistering acceptance speech for her IndieWire Maverick Award, my phone vibrated with the news of the Netflix-Warner Bros. merger.

Here’s the kicker: I was sitting on the Netflix couch reserved for Jacob Elordi and his makeup artist Mike Hill, who received the Wavelength Award earlier that evening for their work on “Frankenstein.”

All ironies aside, here’s the easy predictions of what this merger will mean: Fewer jobs. (The floor on anticipated initial savings is $2 billion-$3 billion.) Fewer films in theaters. And, fewer good films and shows unless you believe that HBO and Warners’ auteur-nurturing sensibilities can survive the buzzsaw of an algorithmic culture unscathed.

That was the question circulating in IndieWire’s Slacks: If Netflix and Warner Bros. merge, what happens to the art? While it will be months before we can know if this deal sticks,...

‘Dancing With the Stars’: Sharna Burgess Speaks Out on Toxicity Rumors
Image
If there’s any toxicity related to Dancing With the Stars, it’s not showing up in the ballroom, Sharna Burgess says. The Australian dancer, a pro on DWTS between Season 16 and Season 30, sounded off on the toxicity rumors in a Q&a on her Instagram Stories on Friday after a user asked what she thought the phrase “DWTS toxic” meant. In reply, per People, Burgess said she had never heard that term but assumed it referred to a certain faction of the DWTS fandom. “It’s certainly not the show itself or the people on it,” she added. “Gosh, I hate even seeing those two words together. It’s so sad.

It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone."

This introductory speech, spoken by host and creator Rod Serling, began every episode of "The Twilight Zone," the beloved and influential television series that ran from 1959 through 1964. An anthology series, the...

Kaitlyn Dever Surprises ‘Last Man Standing’ Dad Tim Allen on ‘Shifting Gears’ Set
Image
Tim Allen stopped dead in his tracks during a recent taping of Shifting Gears when he saw former TV daughter Kaitlyn Dever in the kitchen instead of his new TV daughter, Kat Dennings — another K.D.! In footage Shifting Gears posted to its official Instagram account, Allen walked on set and froze when it was Dever, his old Last Man Standing costar, who popped up from behind a refrigerator door. Allen keeled over in surprise, and the studio audience laughed and cheered. Then the former colleagues shared a sweet hug before Dever imitated Allen’s shocked expression. Dennings, who was hiding behind the kitchen island for the prank, also went in for a hug.

Sydney Sweeney recently told People magazine that “I’m against hate” while looking back at the controversy that erupted over her American Eagle jeans ad earlier this year. The campaign was centered on the tagline “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.” The pun around “great genes” ignited outrage online, with many on social media alleging the company was glorifying the actor’s white heritage and thin physique. Some even compared the ads to “Nazi propaganda.”

Jennifer Aniston Didn't Mince Words About The Friends Theme Song
Image
The "Friends" theme song, "I'll Be There for You" by The Rembrandts, is considered one of the best theme songs of the 1990s — but according to several cast members, the actors themselves didn't necessarily love filming the imagery that accompanied it.

During a 2016 appearance on the United Kingdom's "The One Show" to promote her film "Office Christmas Party," Jennifer Aniston was asked by host Matt Baker what she feels when she hears "I'll Be There for You" — and she didn't hold back.

"No one was really a big fan of that theme song," she said, appearing to reference the full ensemble.

Her feelings about the case made her hellbent on catching the killer, similar to how Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) would make cases personal on Blue Bloods. Danny had to teach Lena what he learned at the NYPD, which was that when you care so deeply about a case, it matters even more to solve it by following police procedures down to the letter. Lena and Danny attended a gala in disguise to get into the same room as their suspect, Senator Lowell (Gabriel Burrafato). Lena was seething with anger when questioning the politician,...
