Hokkaido Gals Are Super Superficial!
Going into this anime, I honestly thought it was gonna be peak. The premise is really amazing-we have this guy who's used to city life and suddenly ends up in this almost hillbilly town in the middle of winter. It had me hooked... until, hmm, the first 10 minutes of episode 1.
The main character is just like every other; he reacts to stuff when he has to, and that's about it. The girls carry the show completely, and they're good-especially Sayuri. She's very well written and genuinely enjoyable to watch.
That being said, it doesn't excuse the anime as a whole. The pacing is bad. It really feels like not much happens until the very end, when all of a sudden she's going away and he has to man up and go after her-but it doesn't really work out, and she goes away anyway. Worst yet, we just get a time skip to her coming back? Like... you could've done so much with the time she was gone. Make the other two girls develop their relationship with Tsubasa more, but instead you just skip to when she comes back??? Talk about wasted potential.
Not my cup of tea, but if you like cute girls, give this one a try.

Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!
This anime series is centred on Tsubasa Shiki, a teenaged boy from Tokyo who has moved the city of Kitami on the northern island of Hokkaido. He arrives in winter and everything is covered in snow. He is somewhat surprised when he sees a girl with dyed blonde hair wearing a short skirt and no gloves; clearly a 'gyaru'. He doesn't really approve but ends up talking to her. She is Minami Fuyuki and it turns out she is in the same class as him. Gradually they start developing feelings for one another.
I hadn't got far into watching this when I began to suspect it was going to be fan service heavy and not that great... thankfully I was wrong. Minami's attire may be a little revealing but nothing too much is shown and the usual ecchi tropes are largely avoided. Instead we get a delightful romance set in an area of Japan that is underserved in anime. The characters are rather fun; with some good secondary characters as well as the two protagonists. I liked the character designs and setting. Overall a fun series; don't be put off by Minami's dress sense.
These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

If you like sweet slow-burn love stories
Watched on: 29-30 March 2025
Tsubasa, our protagonist, moves from Tokyo to a chilly Hokkaido, where he will find Minami, an energetic, really cute girl. So, this Shonen romance anime begins. Personally, I adore films, anime, or any bit of story that involves romance, I reckon in my life there has never been this sort of tension, but I am still believing that someday I will have it 😅.
The progression of their friendship to love, with some emotional attachments, small jealousies, and heartwarming changes in behavior is slowly portrayed. There's even a little bit of a love triangle, not too overdramatic, of course. The best part?-it's not crammed with just too many characters so really you can relate to the main cast.
Should You Watch It?
If you like sweet slow-burn love stories, then this anime is a must-watch. I would probably rate it somewhere between a 7-9 out of 10 on all things, but for a romance lover like myself, I'd say, "10/10, that's all!"

Not good only ok
A very average comedy about these 3 girls and 1 boy with the personality that we have seen thousands of times in other sometimes better shows and sometimes worst, there is nothing special here, the animation and the cold in Hokkaido of course its beautiful but overall these 3 Fuyuki, Sayuri and Natsukawa are just annoying af, and the boy who I don't remember the name it's just a boring protagonist made so virgens can relate
The first 6 episodes are better than the other half because in those 6 first episodes you are not yet tired of these bad written characters ok and that's not a good thing, very bland anime 6/10.

Gals & Giggles: Hokkaido's Cutest Come to Town!
With a blonde gyaru and a quirky accent, this character seemed like a surefire hit. Guess not! What a missed opportunity.
In other words, this anime is incredibly repetitive. Every episode follows the exact same formula: a guy meets a flashy girl, they grab a bite, and then the guy ends up flustered. It's like watching the same scene on repeat. If you ever felt like slice-of-life anime relies on clichés, this show cranks that feeling up to eleven - and all within a super predictable format.
This anime is boring, even for someone like me who enjoys silly jokes. It offers nothing: no interesting ideas, not heartwarming enough, not the cute style I like, and forget about anything spicy. It doesn't even deliver the cozy vibes a slice-of-life should! The only saving grace is a single scene with a character's mom. The rest is just repetitive and irritating.
