The customer wanted to improve their disaster recovery readiness and was considering solutions that would provide a comprehensive and resilient strategy that ensures business continuity, minimizes downtime, and protects critical data and systems.
They sought to evacuate and decommission a secondary data center to reduce costs and support an initiative to shift toward cloud-based services and modern IT practices.

ePlus has expertise in managed data protection and disaster recovery solutions focused on protecting on-premises workloads into public cloud providers.
ePlus led the opportunity and provided technical resources to recommend an industry-leading solution, hosted in AWS, which included advanced networking design using AWS Direct Connect, online migration, and network extension requirements.
ePlus was able to demonstrate value and cultivate trust by proposing a cost-effective disaster recovery solution.

Cloud Disaster Recovery

ePlus designed and deployed an AWS-hosted disaster recovery solution leveraging a Pilot Light deployment mode for recovering critical applications with lower RTO requirements and cost-effective on-demand compute and storage replication.
ePlus designed and implemented a foundational AWS configuration leveraging Palo Alto and Fortinet security appliances to provide network segmentation, intrusion detection and prevention, and security operations logging with policy enforcement and visibility for their AWS environment. Cisco AnyConnect will be leveraged for end-user VPN connectivity to the recovery environment.
ePlus deployed and tested the solution alongside the customer’s data center, cloud, and security teams.

The customer has the ability to protect their critical data and applications from potential disruptions by replicating virtual machines and applications to a cloud environment. In the event of a disaster, failover can be initiated quickly.
By leveraging a combination of storage replication, on-demand compute scaling, and a small deployment of “always-on” pilot light compute resources, they minimize downtime and have confidence that their critical systems remain operational automatically.
The cloud-based disaster recovery solution will allow the customer to decommission their separate physical disaster recovery site, leading to cost savings in terms of infrastructure, maintenance, and operational expenses.
