Google Nest Pro AP won't connect via Cat6A using Netgear GS305E switch

Google Nest WIFi Pro system 3 pack-router works, I have 1 point working (wireless).  2nd point is installed on the network but is offline (installed it wirelessly first to the network while standing near the router).  I then moved it to it's new home in the garage and connected it using Cat6A ethernet cable which is plugged into my Netgear GS305E switch (won't get signal wirelessly in our garage).  I have security cameras also on the switch and working perfect. I know Google says to " Disable STP protocol and forward Bridge Protocol Data Units (BPDUs) when STP is disabled." The Netgear switch says it is preset with STP disabled and doesn't have a way to manage this.  Any ideas as to why my 2nd point won't connect? How do the points know if they should use a wired connection vs wireless? Tried rebooting.

Thanks and I'm a novice-so please be nice!

Hello @POC

It looks like that Ethernet switch is a smart/managed variety that includes loop detection / loop prevention enabled by default. This interferes with how Nest WiFi Pro supports connecting secondary/point units back to the primary via Ethernet and is likely the cause of your issues getting that wired secondary/point unit to work. When wired, a secondary discovers the Ethernet connection back to the primary immediately and should start using it right away without rebooting or reconfiguration required.

If you can't disable "L2 Loop Protection" on that switch, then I would replace it with an inexpensive, "unmanaged" Ethernet switch instead, that doesn't have spanning tree protocol (STP) at all.

I'm already assuming your switch is connected to the primary/router Nest WiFi Pro unit's LAN Ethernet port (not to an outer network the Nest WiFi Pro unit's WAN Ethernet port is also connected to.

I did disable the loop protection, still not working.  I ordered the GS305 unmanaged switch so I will see if that does the trick today.  What you said makes sense, thank you!

Yep, I do have the Google router connected to the providers modem, then the routers LAN goes to the switch.  Always good to double check that stuff!
