Nest E Thermostat

I’ve recently tried to replace my old (heat only thermostat) with nest e.  I have a red and white wire on the system, connected them to “r” and “w” respectively. The new thermostat won’t power on. The wires are in the base with buttons depressed. I put the old thermostat back on to make sure the wires had power and it worked when I did that. I don’t have a high voltage or millivolt system. Googles compatibility says it “may” work with my system.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi B-,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I understand it can be frustrating to encounter unexpected situations with your Nest Thermostat E. Here's some help!

If you've already installed your Nest Thermostat E, you can try charging it using the following steps:

  • Gently pull off the thermostat display.
  • Locate the  Micro USB-port on the back of the display.
  • Use a standard USB cable and a wall charger (not a computer USB port) to connect the cable to the USB port on the display.
  • The display should eventually light up and instruct you to connect it to the base.
  • Reconnect the display firmly to the thermostat base until you hear a click.

Doing these steps might solve this situation. Keep me posted about how it goes, I'm here to help!

Best regards,

Nery.
