Now this is Pod Racing!
Chevy6016· Review provided by LEGO · May 25, 2024
I am stoked this set came out. Pod Racing has been my favorite part of Episode 1 since it came out. Played all the video games and past Lego sets including the old big Mos Espa set #7171. I love it for what it is, great piece for the wall and adds some nice color on the shelf whereas most Star Wars sets are grey. I only have 2 complaints about this set. 1) is that I don't think the proportions are correct. I think this set could have benefitted from being an inch longer and just enlarging Sebulbas pod racer more, in the movies his racer is huge in comparison and they feel pretty even here on this set. And 2) (not applicable to most people) the racers feel flimsy. I am a military member so I move every 3-4 years and I am concerned with how well this will hold up. The set background feels sturdy but I am afraid the racers will be damaged in my next move. Overall I am super pleased with it though, I am glad they came out with this set and I would recommend this purchase set.
A nice addition to my colllection

Overall this was a set I was very excited to get my hands on as growing up, this was one of my favorite scenes. The value for the money is good and I have no issues with the price at all. With this being an 18+ diorama set, instead of playability, I’m going to call it DISplayability instead. Due to its size, the detail on the racers and landscaping you’d think would be limited, however I find it to be very well done and looks excellent with the other dioramas. My only 4 star rating comes from build experience due to the building of the wall part becomes a bit repetitive which honestly was kind of expected with it being what it is. Overall, I find it really hard to fault this set and if you collect the dioramas, this set is a must!

Inside the box are 6 numbered bags, an instruction manual, a small sticker sheet, two loose 16×16 dark tan plates, and an unnumbered bag with some mechanical parts. The sticker sheet only has 8 stickers which is reasonable, though for a premium-styled set like this it would’ve been nice to get all prints. The unnumbered bag has some specialised mechanical-looking pieces; this bag of accessories was previously used in the Super Heroes theme. The manual has some extra information about the movie scene and the design process which is always nice to see.
Poor Lego production quality ruins set

The injection points are painfully visible on bricks now… it’s really sad to see the quality decline and the price just keep going up. Props on environmental goals but this is cutting corners (literally) on quality leading to bricks that look worse than 3rd party brands. Lego used to say “only the best is good enough” … well Lego is no longer good enough to justify the price. It’s been a fun hobby to get back into but I think I’m going to limit my purchases. You’ve turned a lifelong fan against your brand, Lego.
