    Google is proud to call Virginia home to two of our data centers.

    In 2018, we announced plans to construct a data center complex in Loudoun County, Virginia. In 2019, Google finished construction on the first phase of two data centers in the county, reflecting a $1.2 billion initial investment and establishing a long-term commitment to the region and state. Our data centers employ a number of people in a variety of full-time and contractor roles, including computer technicians, engineers, and various food services, maintenance, and security roles.

      In the community

      At Google, we’re committed to playing a positive role in every community in which we operate around the world. Through investments and local initiatives that utilize our tools and expertise, we’re working to help businesses, educational institutions, community collaboratives, nonprofits, and individuals create and thrive in a sustainable, knowledge-based economy. We are always on the lookout for opportunities for Googlers to share their time and expertise with the local community.

      In 2019, Google worked alongside Loudoun County community leaders to advance education and economic opportunities, providing, for example, $100,000 to the Loudoun Education Foundation (LEF) and $100,000 to the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties. In 2020, as school districts were forced to go remote due to the coronavirus pandemic, Google provided $150,000 to LEF to support digital equity efforts across the district.
