Veteran Swansea City defender Kyle Naughton has agreed a new one-year contract with the Championship club.

Naughton, 35, had been due to become a free agent this summer.

The long-serving right-back - who can also operate in central defence - will now remain at Swansea until 2025.

Naughton missed the closing stages of the 2023-24 season after suffering a hamstring injury in the derby win over Cardiff City in March.

Head coach Luke Williams has repeatedly spelled out his admiration for Naughton, who joined Swansea from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2015 and has made more than 300 appearances for the Welsh club.

Williams is keen to keep some experienced players in his squad as he prepares for a first full season as Swansea boss.

Naughton is the first of six senior players whose contracts expire this summer to agree a new deal.

The futures of Joe Allen, Jamie Paterson, Liam Walsh, Przemyslaw Placheta and Nathaniel Ogbeta are still to be decided.
