Descendants 4 trailer takes fans on a trip to Wonderland

The first trailer for the new Descendants movie has dropped, giving fans a glimpse at the new characters from the film.

The Descendants movies are all about the children of famous Disney heroes and villains.

This time, the story will follow the daughter of the Queen of Hearts from Wonderland.

Read on to find out what we know about Descendants: The Rise of Red.

Red, the movie's main character, is the daughter of Alice in Wonderland's formidable opponent, the Queen of Hearts.

Red will be played by actress Kylie Cantrall, while pop star and The Masked Singer judge Rita Ora will play her mum, the villainous queen.

We’ll also meet Chloe, played by Malia Baker, who is the daughter of a Disney princess you just might have heard of: Cinderella!

Cinderella will be played by singer Brandy, who also played the princess in a film back in 1997.

China Anne McClain is back to play sea witch Ursula’s daughter Uma, and Melanie Paxson and Joshua Colley will return as the Fairy Godmother and Hook.

The film will also be the first Descendants movie to be made without actor Cameron Boyce - who played Cruella de Vil's son Carlos in the franchise - after he passed away in 2019.

In the trailer, we see Auradon Prep’s new headteacher Uma invite fellow Villain Kid Red to join the school.

But things don’t quite go to plan, as the Queen of Hearts uses her famous playing-card soldiers to take over Auradon.

Red travels back in time with Chloe to undo the event that turned her mum into a villain, using a magical pocket watch.

This might be a reference to the pocket watch carried by the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, who Alice follows down the rabbit hole into a magical land.

Red and Chloe appear to get off to a rocky start, before setting off on a time-travelling adventure to set things right.

The film will be released on the paid-for streaming service Disney+ on 12 July.
