My hair is fine and is cut to chin length and gets longer, of course, between cuts which are not every six weeks. It's cut one length, with or without a taper in the back. It dries easily in the open air but blow drying it with my head upside down gives it some 'poof'. Any styling I do is with a hot hair brush just to shape it and clean it up some. I tested it when I took it out of the box, but haven't used it yet, but decided to write a review on first blush. The two heat and velocity speeds are combined...they are not a separate button. The low speed was powerful and hot enough to dry my very fine hair. When I switched the single switch setting, the velocity and heat seemed to be increased...but not so much that caused me to think of Turbo Engines. This unit does not have a cool button and is not advertised to have "ion" technology...and I'm not sure before using what that means for me as far as controlling fizziness. I do use the cool button sometimes in the summer. I was looking at much higher priced driers with multiple functions. The last one I tried was had three speeds...Off, Low, High. Low made me think of the word "Turbo" and High made thing "Super Turbo"...both were very loud. I returned it and replaced it with this modest model...I hope with it's simple design, it lasts for a few years. I reviewed my buying history and I've been replacing hair dryers about every two years and they were medium priced levels. The last one I bought lasted much less than two years. I'm hoping I like this new little, don't miss the ion technology or the cool button, that it's perfect for my everyday minimal needs, and it's light enough for travel, and that I don't need to replace it again in a year. I will try to remember, after time, to update if it turns out I'm disappointed in my choice for any reason.
