I had to keep this aired for about 2 weeks while the odor faded. Compared to a rug pad I bought from them years ago, I think it had less weight and more smell. There are few alternatives online. I tried to buy direct from the maker again (they cut to size) but they were temporarily out and Amazon did have the product.
