Blown away with this MoV release. I am someone who doesn’t mind paying extra to get the record I really want. I do my research, try and find information about which press sounds as close to the original as possible, and go from there. So when I read the best press of AiC Unplugged was a $30 MoV release, I was hesitant. In my experience, I’ve had MoV releases that are not that great and sound flat, and then there are the gems like this one. This copy of Unplugged sounds as good as my 2009 Bernie Grundman master of Nirvana Unplugged, and that’s one of the best live records I’ve ever heard pressed. MoV claims this press was cut with the “original masters.” A bit vague of a statement, but you can tell this is one they really tried to get close to the original source material and make a beautiful record. Full, warm, haunting sound. As close to being in the room with those guys as we will ever get. If you are a fan of AiC, Unplugged, or just iconic records that are pressed extremely well, don’t sleep on this one. The ONLY fault I can find, and that’s really hunting for one, is like others have pointed out skimping on the packaging. For something so well done I would love to see it in a gatefold. Other than that, 5/5 stars for sure. RIP Layne.

I have the dvd for this and I wanted TIS cd to go with my AIC collection.
It is very good cd I think with probably their last live performance as the original lineup.
The case was cracked, due to the padded envelope and sipping.

Besonders in den 1990er Jahren erfreuten sich die Unplugged-Sessions von MTV großer Beliebtheit. Kein Wunder also, dass 1996 auch Alice in Chains 1996 ihr Album "MTV Unplugged" herausbrachten. Die Band aus Seattle wird ja gerne genannt, wenn es um die Großen des Grunge geht - dabei ist Grunge kein klar definierbares Genre. Alice in Chains spielten eine damals moderne Version des Hard Rock und Metal, so lässt es sich eher beschreiben. Veröffentlicht hat das Quartett während seiner ersten Schaffensperiode mit dem 2002 leider verstorbenen Sänger Layne Staley lediglich drei Studioalben und zwei EPs, von denen auf "MTV Unplugged" entsprechend Songs in Akustikversionen zu hören sind. Mit ins Boot geholt hat sich die Band dafür einen zusätzlichen Gitarristen zur Live-Unterstützung. Ganz abgesehen davon, dass die ausgewählten Lieder ohnehin großartig sind, funktionieren sie im Unplugged-Gewand hervorragend. Hier wirkt der zweistimmige Gesang von Layne Staley und Jerry Cantrell noch eindringlicher als sonst, alles ist gehüllt in eine düstere, aber dennoch warme Atmosphäre. Besonders bei "Rooster" bekomme ich jedes Mal eine wohlige Gänsehaut. Kurz gesagt: Dieses Live-Album ist einfach wundervoll und bekommt selbstverständlich volle fünf Sterne von mir.
