Always wanted one of these tiger rice makers sine I've moved out of the parents. My mother had these (probably went through 3 in the whole 22 yrs of me living at home) while growing up and as long as I can remember, it hasn't changed. (I'm 30 now) so, since the asian store is so expensive, I was going to order whatever rice maker I can find on here. Well, I happen to have found these and got pretty excited! For 1/2 the price sold in the local asian store? Deal! :) always makes great tasting rice when measured rice to water right. I love amazon...

UPDATE: it's been 5 months and it's still working good. I clean it with a soft sponge with very little soap just to get it clean and not disturb the nonstick surface. One tip I had to learn myself and my father told me: do not use warm or hot water when cooking rice because the rice cooker will think it's already been hot so it wouldn't cook it the time it should. Happened to me once and my father told me this is why he always yelled at me when i was younger for using hot water to fill it. (Now I understand lol) just for those of you saying it's not fully cooking, this could be one of the problems. Ever since that one time, it's been pretty good. Longest I've had rice in the cooker was 3 days. I wouldn't recommend longer than that because the top gets hard and I'm sure the rice will start going bad then. :)

We have a much more expensive rice cooker but takes forever to cook rice. When We moved and our things were in storage we decide to get a cheaper rice cooker to get us till we get our stuff back. We actually like this one a lot more now, it’s so efficient, cook way faster and no fuss design, just one button and one function, which is what we need anyways.

Good simple rice cooker, bought used and it didn't have the steam basket

I bought a used 5.5 cup model for CAD$52.51. Box was pretty smashed as per the "damaged" description, I also expected "Large cosmetic imperfection(s)" on multiple sides, but it seems immaculate to me, which was a pleasant surprise.

Compared to my previous cheap glass cover rice cooker, it cooks rice very evenly, looks nicer, doesn't sputter, and is very efficient retaining heat (it seems thickly insulated).

No special functions, simple single switch, deceptively lightweight, non-stick, looks nice, the retractable power cord is also great for quick storage.

It came with a 180ml measuring cup and plastic paddle. The plastic rice paddle is smooth which makes it easier to clean than a textured one.

Unfortunately, it did not come with the inner steam basket from the description, maybe because I bought it used. And despite having a lower capacity of 5.5 cups, it is big and pretty comparable to a cheap 10 cup rice cooker.

An awesome and superior rice cooker, it makes perfect rice every time! Keeps cooked rice hot for hours, without drying it out, as do so many other cookers. The lid seals moisture in to keep rice and veggies and any contents moist and hot. You can open, spoon out a portion and then close the lid again and keep contents warm for the afternoon or evening as needed!
I find it a wonderful convenience, no more waiting, and watching while it cooks. I recommend it.
